Book 6 of She Can Series
Romantic Suspense/Mystery

Reformed assassin Cristan Rojas just wants to raise his daughter in peace. But after twelve years on the run, he learns that even the quiet little town of Westbury, Pennsylvania, has many hidden dangers. Although he can't shake the feeling he's under surveillance, Cristan's attraction to Sarah Mitchell continues to grow, as do his concerns that his secret past could jeopardize anyone who gets too close to him.

Sarah is ready to start her life over with her children, a new job, and a budding romance. Her newfound happiness is threatened when her ex-husband becomes increasingly violent—and she soon learns her ex isn't the only person stalking her.

Cristan fears someone from his past has arrived in town, someone far worse than a jealous ex. Someone who may be responsible for a brutal—and unsolved—murder a dozen years ago. To protect Sarah and his daughter, he must shine a light into the darkest recesses of his nightmarish past.

Hiding from the past never ends well as the lies will soon catch up and it might end up ruining his life...

This is the fifth book in the She Can series, a series that I have had the pleasure of reading and reviewing. This is one series that I must read and also reread. I enjoy getting to know all of the characters; they all have their own unique story and love. The two main characters in this book had made short appearances in previous books. Cristan was a character that I wanted to know more about; he was dark and handsome. Sarah was another character that I was intrigued with when she made an appearance in her sister's book, She Can Tell. These two characters have similar lives, and in the end they stick together to get through their troubles.

Cristan "Christopher Navarro" Rojas is a man on the run with his daughter, Lucia "Luciana Navarro" Rojas after the massacre at his wife's family ranch. All he knew was that he needed to run and keep his daughter safe. His wife was dead, and so he ran. He has been all over the United States and now they lived in Westbury, Pennsylvania. His daughter loved it here; she had made friends and was now babysitting for a wonderful woman.

Sarah Mitchell has left her husband Troy five months ago after he pushed her down the stairs. She has two adorable little girls, Alex was five and Emma was three, and they were Sarah's life. Now all she needed to do was make sure she protected them but it was hard when they had visitations with their father. Troy had been harassing her but he was a very intelligent man that knew how to word his sentences so that it didn't appear as though he was threatening her.

Lucia was a wonderful little girl that had no recollection of what happened that horrible day. She didn't understand why they were constantly moving. According to her father it was just business but to her every time she appeared somewhere publicly that was when they would move. So she made her father promise her that this time would be different. This was because she told him a little lie--she had the chance to go to Washington, D.C. for a spelling bee contest, but if he knew, they would move. But for how long would he keep his promise and for how long would she be in a town she loved? She was also wanting a mother; all she knew was that her mom has died in a car accident. She saw how her father and Sarah looked at each other, and decided she would not mind if Sarah would become her mother. But that was shattered the night she learned the truth.

Cristan and Sarah both needed to protect their family. They both kept secrets from their children but it was for their own good. The day that Lucia was born was the day that Cristan knew he could no longer kill a person or be part of his wife's family's mob life. He knew that he would have to be on the run for the rest of his life because the woman that massacred his family was still out there. Sarah was just trying to make a living and taking care of her little girls. She also knew Troy was lurking out there and it was only a matter of time before he would do something crazy because he was derailing.

So who was following Cristan? Could it be the woman that wanted vengeance because of her dead son even though he didn't kill him? Could he be seeing things after discovering a figure in one of his daughter's pictures? Would Sarah be able to defend herself when Troy threatened her life?

SHE CAN KILL was an exceptional read! I loved how the author was able to add a little bit of the past with what was currently happening. It was not distracting and it was delivered flawlessly. I love how these characters came together when they needed help and the support they gave each other; that was something Cristan needed. This story touched everything in me emotionally and I fell in love with all of the characters new and old. This story is about second chances at being a family at love. Ms. Leigh's writing is creative and effortless. The pace of this story is perfect. The chemistry between Cristan and Sarah is sensual.

This story is filled with twists and turns but in the end everything comes to light, it left me stunned!
