When reading a historical romance, one of the challenges I have discovered is unfamiliar dialect.
With Rue Allyn's KNIGHT PROTECTOR, the setting is Scotland in the latter part of the 13th century. I've read books set in that time before, but for the most part they tended to be more modernized.
The prologue sets the stage for drama as twin brothers fight in front of Lady Sorcha Mackai, unknowingly beginning a chain of events that will impact their lives forever.
The storyline is rich with all sorts of intrigue ranging from politics to family. Although Sorcha belongs to another, fate steps in and ups the ante.
Anyone who enjoys a good tale from this time period and can handle a dose of a Scottish burr should find this a stimulating read, especially with a heavy dose of romance.
