Can love's legacy bring two war weary souls together?
Drawn by a flicker of light coming from the ruins of Babylon Castle, Rebecca Sumerfield is driven to investigate. The last thing she expects to find is the castle's owner, a Captain in the British Army. Still devastated from her brother's death in battle, she despises all things military.
Having survived Waterloo, Captain Camden Le Bec isn't in the market for romance. He stops at Babylon Castle, the perfect place to gather his thoughts, only for the spirited Rebecca to storm his castle and demand he leave at once. Her fearless defiance and selfless heart awaken a desire Camden has never known. He's determined to possess her, but Rebecca refuses to risk another broken heart.
Will they find solace in each other's arms, or has war pushed them both beyond any hope?

The magic of Babylon unites Rebecca and Camden.
Rebecca Sumerville has always been fascinated by Babylon castle. According to local lore, its last inhabitants were Sir Kenton Le Bec and his wife Lady Nicola Aubrey-Thorne. They were so in love that Babylon has remained empty since their deaths as a monument to their love. When Rebecca sees a light on in Babylon she has to check it out. She meets Captain Camden Le Bec, the current owner, who has retreated to Babylon to rest after doing his bit in the war. Having lost her brother to the war against Napoleon, Rebecca has vowed never to get involved with a soldier. She wants to never risk that kind of loss again. She doesn't think she can survive it.
So why she can't stay away from Camden is a mystery. Perhaps it is the lure of Babylon, through which Camden is more than happy to escort her. Camden is fascinated by Rebecca. He's never felt this way before and knows that this is the woman he wants to marry. If only he can get her to stop running away from him. When Camden proposes and Rebecca rejects him, can they still find a way to be together?
LOVE'S LEGACCY is a novella that explores the risks of falling in love. Rebecca's hesitation to risk her heart on a soldier after the loss of her brother and watching the effect of his death on his widow, Daphne, is understandable. Having Daphne be the one to approach Rebecca about her fears is an inspired choice as it addresses the heart of those fears. Having Camden and Rebecca look like Kenton and Nicola, adds a hint of mysticism and predestination to their love. It suggests that they are fated to bring Babylon back to its former glory.
However, there are enough repeated and incorrect words to be annoying and slow the pace of the reader. They also serve to confuse the storyline as some sentences have to be puzzled out to determine what the author meant to say.
Fortunately, these spelling errors do not affect the overall enjoyment of the novella. LOVE'S LEGACY is a quick read with believable and interesting characters. Any fan of historical romance is sure to enjoy this story.
