Their pairing could bring a fate worse than death but only Heath and Sophia can keep each other safe in this thrilling paranormal romance.
Heath Frasier made no friends the day he broke werewolf law and Sophia Anderson has a powerful faery for an enemy. Readers are pulled into the story as the characters try to come to terms with their attraction while they fight to stay alive. Heath and Sophia have a powerful chemistry that readers can't resist as it bounces from the pages with sizzling hot passion and a relationship fraught with some pretty dangerous pitfalls and emotional turbulence. These characters are strong and have a charismatic personality that enhances that chemistry while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.
The story is full of non-stop dangerous action that keeps the adrenaline pumping, intriguing twists that keep the readers guessing and some magical battles that spices the action up even more. And that's not all because in addition to the romance, there is quite a few pack members augmenting the story with some fun, chuckles, romance and excitement as well as all the bad guys that seem to have some twisted plans that adds to the suspense. The story is well written with lots of vivid details that make it easy for the reader to get lost in all the excitement and the energetic feel as those intriguing events guarantee that they keep turning the pages.
Wow, the difference between this story and the first one is a marked improvement that really blew me away. I mean I enjoyed the first one and I knew that the series idea and the intriguing characters had lots of promise but I wasn't expecting the author to take it quite this far, this fast. I was completely wrapped up in Heath and Sophia's story from the very beginning and I definitely can't wait to find out what happens next.

They are surrounded by danger. Their enemies are getting bolder. Their connection to one another grows stronger but being together could make them weaker and jeopardize their lives. Will they believe in the power of their love?
Sophia Anderson is a shifter with magical abilities related to fire. Those abilities saved her life and she has spent centuries building them. Her twin brother has paid dearly for her actions. Her brother and Heath are in the same pack in New Orleans. Since their first meeting, she has known they were meant to be together but he pushes her away when she gets close. Now that her enemies are after her, she has returned to New Orleans for help.
Heath Frasier is a shifter who has spent years paying for his crime. His real crime was wanting to protect his mother from their Alpha. He lost his magical powers but not his strength. Now that lies have been revealed, he has the chance to get back everything he lost. He wants Sophia but fears that their being together would cause issues with their powers. It is only when their safety is at great risk that he is finally willing to take a chance on their love.
This is the second book in the Crescent City Creatures series. This series features shifters, fairies, witches and other supernaturals that live together under the radar of the humans. There are many power struggles among the groups and you have to be strong to survive. In this world, each of the shifters has a special magical ability. When they mate, they become even stronger and gain some of the powers of their partner. In some cases, those with competing abilities may cancel out their magic by mating. I had not read the first book in the series and felt a little lost at times in the beginning so I would recommend reading it first. There is a lot of history touched on from that first book and many other characters who are part of the storyline were introduced in the previous story.
Sophia is the kind of strong female character I enjoy reading about and I felt a connection to her right away. She has worked hard to be independent even when it has created problems with the alpha males she is surrounded by in her pack. She loves her brother Sebastian and has tried hard to get him freed from his unjust conviction. For most of her life, he has been the only male that she really loved and trusted. Heath is the first man to tempt her to want more and she doesn't understand his resistance. She knows he shares her desires. Sophia does not give up on him and keeps the faith even when they encounter great danger. Sophia deserves a mate as strong as she is and Heath is up to the task.
The story is fast-paced and there is plenty of action. While Sophia and Heath are the focus of this book, there are many other characters that tell their stories and I expect will get their own books in the future. The author moves in and out of those other storylines and at times I resented being pulled out of the main story. I wanted to spend my time with Sophia and Heath who I really felt connected to. I understood that she was laying the foundation for the series but would have preferred that she involve the main characters in those storylines more directly so it did not feel like such a sudden switch.
Crescent City Creatures is an exciting series with powerful supernaturals that love and hate with great passion. Heath and Sophia have powerful enemies. In banding together, they may gain great power or lose all their power forever. It is a fast paced story with lots of intriguing characters and action that hooks you in from the very beginning. I recommend you read the first book in the series (Punished) before HUNTED to more fully understand the history of the characters. I do look forward to reading more stories featuring these powerful men and women who struggle with love just like the rest of us.
