Death has followed Alena Novac's circus family for years. When the police arrest her brother for a murder he didn't commit, she has only a week to rescue him before he transforms into his wolf form in prison and exposes their wulfkin existence to the world.
Enre Ulf, a former member of the Varlac, the fearsome ruling wulfkin clan, plans to infiltrate Alena's circus clan and take out their alpha to save his home in Transylvania. Except he never expected his wolf to claim the alpha's daughter, Alena, as his mate, or feel compelled to save her brother to help protect the secrets of the wulfkin.
With the police closing in and the blood feud threatening them, Alena and Enre must overcome their pasts to save their packs' futures.

This is my first time reading anything written by T.F. Walsh. I am a big fan of the paranormal genre and as such, I was eager to delve into the pages of this book. The blurb was intriguing and I could not resist requesting this title for the chance to read and review it.
CLOAKED IN SECRECY is the second installment of the Wulfkin Legacy series and it can be read as a stand-alone. The author provided enough insight into what happened in the first installment; as such, it made it easy to follow the events in this story. Furthermore, it helped to pique my interest in the previous books so I will definitely be looking to get my hands on those.
The Wulfkin series provide readers with a unique concept of the werewolf society. They are called wulfkins. Initially, they are moonwulfs and their wolf sides are controlled by the moon. However, they are transformed into wulfkins when the Lunar Eutine occurs. At this point, some may be blessed with unique powers and they are now able to control their shifting abilities.
In this installment, we are introduced to a wulfkin pack that's tired of living a nomadic life and is desperate to find a place they can call home. As such, they have set their sights on wulfkin land located in Transylvania. They have tried their best to stay off the radar of humans by living among them as circus performers. However, things began to unravel when humans turned up dead in every town that they have performed, thereby placing them on the very radar they have been trying to avoid.
Are they being set up or is one of their own responsible? In the midst of all their troubles, they have been infiltrated by a wulfkin who is desperate to save his home in Transylvania. Can things possibly get any worse?
The characters had depth. They intrigued me and I was eager to learn more about them. Alena is the embodiment of the characteristics that I look for in a female protagonist. She is compassionate, brave, determined and loyal. Enre captured my heart from the moment I was introduced to him. Learning about his past and seeing the man that he has become endeared me to him. He is a man of integrity, who is not afraid to acknowledge when he is wrong. He is not the type to back away from a challenge and he will sacrifice all for his pack and his mate.
The story started out slow, however, I believe that the author did this deliberately. In doing this, readers are provided with sufficient history about the characters, making it easy to relate to them. The second half of the book is when things began to heat up. There was action, suspense, mystery and romance, which were neatly tied together. These elements made for an exciting and gripping read.
The romance was refreshing. In this instance Alena and Enre recognized each other as mates, however, circumstances made them wary. They both tried to fight their attraction for each other. Their feelings for each other developed throughout the course of the story. It was not the instant love scenario that tends to permeate the pages of shifter romances.
My only problem is the abrupt manner in which the story was concluded. I would not exactly call it a cliffhanger because the mystery and romance were resolved. However, there are some issues that were not dealt with in this installment so now I am going to have to wait (I hope it won't be a long wait) for the next book to find out what is going to happen.
