I'd happily get to know a bad boy artist who knows how to handle his brush!
When Regret Hollow bad boy Zane DeMonde asked his high school girlfriend Julianne Truman to leave town with him to start a new life, she refused. And it's something they've both regretted every day of the last 15 years. Now a hugely successful artist, Zane is livid when he gets an invite to an art auction Julianne's throwing, featuring some of the sketches he did for her as a kid. Zane marches back into Regret Hollow determined to put a stop to the auction, but instead he finds that the one woman who always had his heart is just as potent as ever.
Julianne needs to raise funds for the art program at the school where she teaches, and she sees no other way than to part with Zane's art. And, to be honest, she's hoping he returns to town so she can see him again. The chemistry between them is just as potent as it was 15 years ago, but they'll have to put the past to bed before they've got a real shot at a future.
THE BAD BOYS GIFT is the first book in The Bad Boys of Regret Hollow series by Ms. Daniel. While I liked this book, I didn't love it. The plot was very "been there, done that" and didn't feature anything spectacular that made me sit up and take notice. Zane was a grumpy artist who held onto past hurts and let them color every decision he made, and Julianne was the woman who'd give anything to still be with the man who held her heart. They had good chemistry, though the book was very short and I didn't feel like there was really enough time to get a true sense for who these characters were underneath the superficial. The sex scenes were well written and pretty hot, more passionate than frantic. Overall the book was edited nicely and free from errors, which I appreciate immensely!
Bottom Line: I'm set to read book 2 in the series, The Bad Boy's Guilt, next, so I'm hoping that Ms. Daniel gives me a little something to sink my teeth into in that one.
