SUMMARY
Gannon and his Soar band mates blend in with the human world, but the five of them belong to an ancient race of winged creatures.
Gifted with the ability to manipulate the elements and hide their wings, they use their status as a popular rock band to hide in plain
view. They are the last of their kind; the rest died long ago when stricken by an unidentified plague.

When figure skating coach, Arwen Grayson, decides to go to a concert featuring her favorite band, Soar, it sets in motion events that will change her life. Her crush on Gannon, the band's lead
singer, proves to be a very real and unexpected connection after their
gazes lock during the band's performance. The concert marks the beginning of a new relationship, and though Arwen does not realize
it--a new life for her.

Marisa Chenery sets up an interesting premise in ICY TEMPTATION where we enter a world where the Alte exist. They look like angels, but don't fall from heaven for the privilege. They enjoy supernatural abilities, and earthly delights without the fall from Grace. This gives the characters much of the allure of angels without all of the associated baggage, demons, hellfire and brimstone, eternal damnation and the like, to the story.

Gannon and his Soar band mates blend in with the human world, but the five of them belong to an ancient race of winged creatures. Gifted with the ability to manipulate the elements and hide their wings, they use their status as a popular rock band to hide in plain view. They are the last of their kind; the rest died long ago when stricken by an unidentified plague.

When figure skating coach, Arwen Grayson decides to go to a concert featuring her favorite band, Soar, it sets in motion events that will change her life. Her crush on Gannon, the band's lead singer, proves to be a very real and unexpected connection after their gazes lock during the band's performance. The concert marks the beginning of a new relationship, and though Arwen does not realize it -- a new life for her.

Arwen and Gannon are equally surprised by how quickly their relationship progresses. Gannon wants to be with Arwen, but soon learns that he may have to end their romance. He finds that he's draining a bit of her life force every time they make love.

This phenomenon and a series of events endangers Arwen and her relationship with Gannon almost as soon as it begins. Their relationship also brings an ancient enemy out of hiding and leads to the truth of what actually destroyed Gannon's people. It proves more than the new bond can bear. Gannon must choose between keeping Arwen close and risking her life, or saving it and possibly causing the destruction of humanity.

ICY TEMPTATION reads like the beginning of a really good story. We meet the romantic couple as well as their supporting cast of friends and family. An evil nemesis comes to the foreground, and catastrophic events are averted. Unfortunately, this story ends when it starts to get really interesting. I can only hope that there is a soon to be published sequel in the works.
