When inquisitive antique dealer Cami Wilson learns she's the revered offspring of an immortal mother and a mortal father, it's not just her hybrid status that has her all flustered. The title comes with her very own super-sexy guardian.
Jaded immortal Joseph Carlisle has only one thing on his mind; his sworn duty to protect the hybrid from those who wish her harm. Anything else would be complicated. That is until they meet.
Chemistry sizzles between them but there's a problem—the hybrid's curse. Cami's touch, skin to skin, proves near fatal to her and all immortals, Joseph included.
But the fated lovers discover her curse is the least of their concerns when a friend's deadly betrayal threatens to tear them apart forever.

She lived an ordinary life in a quiet village. Everything changes when she learns about the magical world surrounding her. Powerful individuals want her dead. He would prefer to retreat to his private world but he and his brother are her guardians. It is a task he did not ask for but compels him to protect her. There is intense desire to be together but a curse may prevent them from ever being able to even touch.

Cami has led a pretty quiet life in a little village and is living with an older woman after the death of her adoptive parents. When she finally looks at the item left for her by her real mother, her life is dramatically changed. She discovers she is a hybrid and the rare offspring of an immortal and a human. She has unique abilities in the magical world. These abilities terrify some immortals who want her dead. When she discovers her abilities, she also discovers she has guardians to protect her. Cami feels an immediate connection to one of them and finds it hard to resist the attraction.

Joseph is an immortal who wishes to live a quiet life. On the day of Cami's birth, a tattoo appeared that identified him as one of the hybrid's guardians. He and his brother have been entrusted with her safety. He will do anything he can to keep her safe. Joseph has a painful past and has tried to hide from love. He can't deny the intensity of the feelings for Cami. The struggle not to act on them is so difficult even when a single touch causes so much pain.

The author has created an interesting world of immortals with all kinds of abilities. This book appears to be the start of a brand new series as it ends with a great deal of developments still left to explore. This first book focuses on Cami and Joseph. It is a time of great change for her. Cami is learning about her origins and falling in love for the first time. There is a lot of suspense as Cami tries to investigate more about her origins while keeping safe from those out to kill her. While Cami learns a great deal, there is a lot more for her to discover. There are also other characters that may be more prominent in future stories based on the storyline.

The romance is well written. It is clear from the very beginning that Cami and Joseph have a strong connection. The author creates realistic tension between the two. Joseph doesn't want to be distracted from his mission to protect her and his strong attraction divides his attention. Her ability related to touch is a serious barrier to them having a relationship. When she touches an immortal with her bare skin, it causes quite a reaction.

While this first book answers some questions for Cami and brings her and Joseph closer, there are many developments left to explore. The author has created an intriguing story with a great deal of opportunity for more storylines featuring these characters.
