Escorting an English Heiress should be no trouble for an experienced man of the world…or so he thought.
Miss Eleanor Craven is much more than she appears. The daughter of a world traveller, she's confident and rebellious –and refuses to be chaperoned. No self-respecting adventurer has a chaperone! The man her aunt has sent as escort would only hinder Eleanor with his strong opinions and tall, dark good looks…and his muscular body that has Eleanor thinking more about sensual trysts than exciting travels. So she must give him the slip—but perhaps one night in his arms wouldn't hurt before she disappears.
Peter Rivers loves his work in the California vineyard he manages. So when he's asked to escort the family's niece on her journey he agrees without hesitation, positive he can resist the fiery attraction he feels whenever she's around. After all, Eleanor may be fearless, but she's also an innocent in all ways, and he won't betray the trust of his employers or ruin their good name—not when his past tarnished his reputation beyond repair. No, somehow he'll have to avoid temptation.
Little does he know Eleanor is hell-bent on seduction.

Eleanor and Rivers tame each other in CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.
Eleanor Craven is a headstrong lady adventuress who has always gotten her own way. The only time she's been away from her father was an ill-fated attempt at a French finishing school from which she was expelled when she was caught attempting to leave the grounds in the company of the fencing master Ari Redon. Instead of a come out, Eleanor and her father went on safari. After a lifetime of adventure, Eleanor and her father James are back home in Oakridges. They are planning their long awaited trip to America to retrace the route James and his brother took as young men across the States to the Napa Valley.
In preparation for their trip, Aunt Frieda and Frieda's overseer Peter Rivers, the current occupants of the California estate, have come to visit Oakridges. Frieda and Rivers will go on from Oakridges to the Continent, where they intend to buy new stock. Then, James and Eleanor will journey to America to join them. Before these plans can be enacted, tragedy strikes and Eleanor finds herself taking her final journey alone. Will Rivers be able to catch her before she is further harmed?
Juliette Cosway's novel CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is a fast-paced thrill ride. While both Eleanor and Rivers seem unreasonably stubborn, Ms. Cosway endeavors to give insight into their character with her shifting viewpoints. By showing both of the main characters' points of view, she is able to make them accessible to the reader and lay bare their motivations. It would be nice if this were more developed as even with the additional insight gained by switching viewpoints, her characters often feel shallow and under motivated.
Ari Redon is especially underutilized. Since he appears in the prologue, the reader expects much more of him than actually happens. Considering the possibilities, the journey west is surprisingly easy and worry free. IT gives the whole thing a dream-like quality. This may be the author's intent but it serves to alienate the reader so that when the action does occur it feels unreal. All in all, this is a great book if you want to disengage your brain and float away from your life for a while.
