SUMMARY
Former Army Ranger, and Chimera-shifter, Connor Gunn is fighting a losing battle against his lion side.

Just released from prison for a crime he didn't commit, the last thing he needs is to be blackmailed into a bank robbery, along with his twin brother Tyler. Worse, the lovely FBI agent already in the bank affects him like no other woman ever has, awakening his body and compelling his lion to the brink of taking full control.

FBI agent Embry Lane has learned a few things over the course of her six years with the Bureau:

1. The FBI is more than a career.
2. Men are nice for a distraction, but eventually they leave.
3. No real man can top the dream lover who comes to her at night.

When Embry runs into Connor on the street, their instant connection makes her doubt what she knows—until she meets him in a tactical mask at the bank with a rifle in his hands.

Trapped in the bank, Connor and Embry must combat their mutual attraction and protect the hostages, because with SWAT outside and deadly enemies within, one wrong move could see them all dead.

He is a former soldier and a chimera shifter blackmailed into a dangerous bank heist with his brothers. He knows they may not make it out alive. She is the FBI agent caught unexpectedly in the robbery. She wants to keep everyone safe. Their connection is strong and unites them in their desire to survive so they can pursue the attraction.

Connor and his brother are chimera shifters who have just been released from a military prison when they are coerced into helping a man with his plans to rob a bank. Right before the robbery, he sees a woman who he is attracted to but there is no time to pursue it. He has to keep the people he cares about safe. When it all starts going down, he is shocked to see the woman inside the bank. He has to work to keep everyone safe and try to survive with a dangerous partner and the SWAT team ready to take them all down. Even harder, he has to keep some distance from the woman he wants so much.

Embry is very focused on her career with the FBI. She has a tip about plans for a robbery but doesn't expect it to go down while she is in the building. When she realizes Connor is one of the robbers, she suspects something is up. Their attraction keeps getting stronger as they spend more time working together. Embry wants to keep the hostages safe and keep Connor alive and it is not an easy task. Embry is also fighting her concerns about having feelings for a criminal. She is working against a tight timeline with the SWAT team eager to end the situation and an unpredictable man in charge of the robbery with his own agenda.

This is the third book in the Chimera Chronicles. It is a very action-oriented story with much of the story taking place during a dangerous bank robbery. You don't often find chimera shifters featured in stories and the author takes the idea in an unexpected direction. There are plenty of unexpected twists that really surprise you and you are not sure how it will all end. The author has to juggle a lot of different elements and does it very well. The character development was enhanced by the author's use of multiple points of view during the story.

Paranormals committing a bank robbery makes for an interesting storyline with plenty of action. While there are previous books in the series, this book does work well as a standalone. I had not read the previous stories and was able to enjoy the story. It really is a fast-paced story that holds your attention. The characters are well-developed and the connection between Connor and Embry feels real and natural. It left me wanting to read more about these characters.
