- Book 3 of A Pound of Flesh
Contemporary Romance, New Adult
From award-winning fanfic phenomenon Sophie Jackson, the third novel in the sexy and emotionally intense blockbuster A Pound of Flesh series.
Life in New York for ex-con Riley Moore is pretty damn good, until a call from his mother shatters the calm: his father has suffered his second heart attack in two years and is in a critical condition. Leaving everything behind, Riley flies home to Michigan for the first time in five years to support his mother and do his best to make amends with his father. He also tries not to think about Lexie Pierce, the only girl he ever truly cared about, and who broke his heart.
When they inevitably meet, memories of their love make Riley yearn to reconnect, despite the pain they both suffered. Though she's wary, and has a secret she's hidden from him for five years, Lexie has little willpower when it comes to Riley and she agrees. Besides, after all that has gone before, she owes it to both of them to find out if they can love each other again.
Can they both overcome their sorrow and secrets and finally share their life together?
A powerful new voice in modern romance, Sophie Jackson has crafted a passionate love story with unforgettable characters that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page.

Ugh, Ms. Jackson slays me every time with her incredible characters and gut-wrenching stories that will stick with you long after the last page has turned. A MEASURE OF LOVE is no exception.
Ex-con Riley Moore is a slut. Once happily making plans with the girl he loved since he was 8, Riley now lives his life for the next warm body and chance to party. Riley has never gotten over losing his best friend and love of his life to angry words and actions all those years ago. When he returns home to Michigan following his dad's heart attack, Riley's entire worldview is thrown off balance with the revelations that Lexie Pierce has withheld some major info from him.
Lexie has grown up a hell of a lot over the last 5 years, and she knows she's got a lot to make up for if Riley is ever going to let her back in. Can the couple meant to be together forever survive the bombshell Lexie kept from Riley?
A MEASURE OF LOVE is the sweetest of the Pound of Flesh books, primarily because Riley and Lexie had a relationship dating back to when they were children, and it's always been each other for them, and no amount of time/space/words/lies can alter that. I adore Riley – he's happy-go-lucky and carefree, a positive person who doesn't like to dwell on the negative. Lexie scarred him, but he's only ever wanted her as the woman he's meant to spend his life with. Lexie made some bad choices when it came to Riley brought on by depression over losing her dad but Riley doesn't make her grovel...she'd spend her whole life apologizing but he just wants to move forward and purge the negative. His relationship with Noah was incredible – so loving and sweet and just plain awesome. I absolutely adored the Pound of Flesh series, and I really hope we get the other Moore brothers' stories from Ms. Jackson soon!
Bottom Line: Do yourself a favor and start at book 1 and binge read this series. You won't regret it (though you may regret not having tissues nearby for involuntary moments of the feels).
