Contemporary Romance, Paranormal Romance

In Diablo Lake, Tennessee, a town populated by werewolves, witches and more, magic woven deep into the earth protects the town's secrets from outsiders.

Katie Grady left Diablo Lake to get over a humiliating breakup. But her family needs her help, so she's back, in a sublet right across the hall from the guy she's lusted after for years. Jace Dooley is hotter than ever, and their friendship picks up along with massive doses of grown-up chemistry.

The very scent of Katie sharpens Jace's canines, makes the wolf within him stir. There's nothing more alluring to a Pack Alpha than a sexy female who is so very in charge. She won't be coddled, but if he plays his hand just right she might be convinced to become his.

Katie presents a challenge to Jace's wolf nature, whose chief instinct is to protect. Especially now that she's coming into the magic that is her birthright—and suddenly Jace isn't the only one who's interested in Katie or the raw power she's just learning to use.

Ever wish you could push someone to the ground just by thinking about it, or maybe wishing you could heal quickly? In Diablo Lake, the residents have these powers and more.

In the small Smokey Mountain town of Diablo Lake, witches and werewolves are the norm. Katie Faith Grady left after her almost-marriage ended in heartbreak, but has returned to town after her father falls ill. Katie Faith has always had a crush on werewolf Jace Dooley, and now that she's moved in next to him, she's having a tough time figuring out why she shouldn't act on the obvious sexual tension between them. But not everybody is happy that these two have finally found each other. Between warring werewolf packs and the witches who know she's one of the most powerful of her generation, Katie Faith will have some tough decisions to make about what she wants for her future.

DIABLO LAKE: MOONSTRUCK is the first offering in the Diablo Lake series. It took me a few chapters to really find my groove with this book, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. It was different than I typically like, with wolves and cats and witches all living somewhat harmoniously in a small Tennessee town (and yes, despite what the blurb says on Goodreads, in the book it's TN and not WA).

Katie Faith was a kickass heroine, a powerful witch just embracing her powers, legacy and destiny. She was her own woman, but falling for the future leader of a wolf pack isn't something she wanted, especially since Jace is from a rival pack of her ex-fiancé. Jace was all Alpha, but sweet, sensitive, helpful and enjoyed the fact that Katie Faith was an Alpha in her own right. She calls him her wolf, he calls her little witch or weirdo, and their connection felt natural and legit. They fed off of each other's power and energy, making sex scenes very groan worthy. The plot was interesting, and because I don't read much paranormal romance, unique. I'm interested in reading more in the Diablo Lake series.

Bottom Line: A fun, unique paranormal romance read that'll leave you smiling and ready for more.
