Book 1 of A Shelter Novel
Contemporary Romance, New Adult, Romantic Suspense/Mystery

There are ghosts in my past—ghosts I can't recognize.

My painting heals me, but Lucas Caine has made me come alive. My past could take both those things away forever. What started out as an undeniable need to create was quickly turning into danger as my longing for memories fed the rough canvases I filled.

Falling for Lucas will force me to revisit my lost memories—and possibly lose myself, my art, and him in the process.

And now he has me skating the thin edge between desire and fear as I use a past I don't remember to leverage a future I'm not sure I want.

(This is book 1 in a 3 book series. Book 2 will be available November 2016 & Book 3, January 2017)

What if you had the opportunity to learn about your past but it might come at a loss of the one thing you hold dear? Would you still do it? Would lifting that blanket of darkness that exists inside your mind be worth losing what drives you?

Cathryn (Ryn) Taylor is an up and coming artist with a horrific past. Except that, she doesn't remember anything that happened the first 17 years of her life. But she knows it was bad. Her new family has kept what they know a secret, but pieces of her past life have been slowly bleeding into her present making what happened even more of a mystery.

And it doesn't help that she has a reputation for being difficult, putting her on the ever watchful radar of the local paparazzi. Not surprisingly, it also makes her art that much more valuable.

Enter Lucas Caine. An enigma wrapped up in a delectable body with looks to die for. Shrouded in his own past, he runs a security firm with his partner, Grant. He seems to "get" Ryn, like no one else ever has and he wants the best for her.

And from the moment she met him and for the first time in her life, Ryn feels safe, despite him being a stranger.

Likes: The mystery surrounding Ryn and the way Stephanie Tyler makes it unfold for us. The interactions between Ryn and all the other characters. They're emotional, exciting, frustrating, agonizing and downright entertaining. Specifically, the interactions between Ryn and Caine, and Ryn and Brayden are fantastic. The chemistry that exists between the lovers and the friends is what drives the story for me.

Dislikes: While I was easily sucked into Ryn's world, as she would go into what I would call almost a fugue state while sketching or painting, I did find the story slow at times and wished that the pace would move faster. Cliffhangers are the bane of my existence. While Ms. Tyler did find an appropriate spot to end book one, I feel as though I hit a brick wall and I'm left rubbing my head, wondering why I stopped.

If you enjoy your romance / erotica novels with a mystery attached, then buckle up and be prepared to complete the trilogy because I suspect that we'll be left hanging until the end. I'm ready. Are you?
