These two sexy shapeshifters are playing to win.
The Call, Book 2
Wendy isn't part of anyone's pack, not anymore. As a cop, she can handle anything, even getting rid of her evil ex. Too bad local werewolf alpha Brett has different ideas. He doesn't care if Wendy wants to be a lone wolf. He has to protect all the wolves in his town. Including her. Especially her.
Wendy finds Brett irritating, overbearing and sexy beyond belief. Brett thinks Wendy is trouble with a capital T and hotter than the dog days of summer. Butting heads can be fun, but there are other ways to rub against each other. Intimate, lusty ways.

She just wants to be left alone. She knows how to take care of herself and has been doing it for a long time. She doesn't want an ex or an arrogant alpha to control her life. It is too bad her body is demanding something else.
Wendy enjoys her freedom. She loves being a police officer. She was part of a pack before, and she has now come to the attention of the local alpha. He makes demands. He is not willing to take no from her.
Brett is the alpha and he really can't understand not wanting to be part of a pack. He not only wants to protect Wendy but he intends to make her his own. He just has to convince her that he is a different kind of alpha.
This is the second book in The Call series and can be read as a standalone. It is pretty quick read featuring a shifter who wants to live as a human. She has been working as a police officer and on her own until a situation brings her to the alpha's attention. Even though she faces a dangerous situation, she thinks getting involved with Brett is even more treacherous. Her previous pack was not a safe and happy place. Brett is all alpha and doesn't understand why she wants to resist his efforts. It is an all out passionate battle with these two from their first meeting.
I like strong female characters and Wendy is definitely one shifter that doesn't stand down to anyone, even an alpha. She likes to be in control and resents the attraction to Brett and the feelings he arouses. Wendy wants to ignore it and focus on taking care of the situation with her ex but Brett won't go away. It is fun to watch the fireworks with these two.
If you are looking for a paranormal romance with a lot of sparks, this is a good choice for you. The author has created a strong female character that does not back down from danger. Wendy and Brett are both independent and determined to get their own way. The attraction only gets stronger as they try to resist it. It is fun journey from beginning to end.
