Not every little girl dreams of being a princess, but damn if the high life wouldn't be a fabulous thing anyway!

All Zelda Wilder ever wanted to do was protect her sister Ava. As teenage runaways, Zee had to make some tough decisions, ones that led the two of them into a life of small time theft as adults. When the women are blackmailed into trying to take down Monagasco's Crown Prince Rowan Westringham Tate by having Zee seduce him then help ruin him, she's skeptical of the motives behind the job. Zee doesn't expect to fall for the future king's younger brother Cal, and with Ava spending every moment with Rowan, things are getting VERY complicated. Particularly when blackmail starts turning deadly and the women are forced to play their hand.

I've gotta say, I like the fact that Zee and Rowan weren't the automatic couple in THE PRINCE & THE PLAYER. Given their first-person POV's throughout the book, it was surprising and unique and I found myself digging the fact that Zee and Cal had the connection while Ava was smitten with the future monarch. All the characters were well written and intriguing, and I found myself enraptured in their story and looking forward to reading how their deception played out. The sex scenes were erotic and playful, particularly between Zee and Cal, while the scenes between Ava and Rowan were more sweetly romantic. Both were sexy and believable and the connection between them palpable.

Toward the end of the book, the action really started and that's when it really got good! Cal went from laid back playboy to badass military man when push came to shove, and I think my panties melted a bit over the transformation! The ending was a total cliffhanger though, so I'm anxious to get the rest of the story in the second installment, A Player for A Princess!

Bottom Line: Excellent start to a 2-part series! Fast, fun, unique and sexy, THE PRINCE & THE PLAYER will make you wish for your own fairytale prince to come to your rescue.
