Celebrating "Coming Out Day" 2010
Max knows his family and friends aren't sure what to make of his moods and impulses. But he's in college now and ready to show them he's grown up and ready to make mature choices. At least he's ready for a serious relationship and almost ready to tell his family he's gay. He could use a little help, though.
With his loving big brother gone forever, who is left to ask for help? Daniel Rocco, his brother's best friend and his longtime crush, of course. Daniel is solid and reliable--the opposite of Max. But for some reason, Daniel seems terrified of what Max might do next.
Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices.

Nineteen year old college student Max Richards showed up on his deceased older brother's best friend's doorstep one weekend with a plan. He was going to get Daniel Rocco to help him come out to his parents. And if he got a chance to sleep with the man who has fueled his fantasies for so many years, so much the better. But Daniel's got his own secrets and his own wounds that he'll have to deal with before he's ready to take on the force that is Max. Will they be able to get it together or will Daniel end up Maxxed Out?
The love scenes were erotic, I liked the overall premise of the story and the dialogue between the characters was good (once I got who was speaking). I thought that the characters were developed well, and the readers are given the back story of the characters in a way that didn't detract from the pace of story or keep it from moving forward.
However, the story was too rushed for me to enjoy the way I wanted. Also, I felt that there was a part of story line that should have been resolved between the main characters before rushing to the "happily ever after" in the next couple of pages. I believe that this is an erotic short story that I think would have benefitted from a longer format. There were so many things going on, I don't think that there was time to adequately get through all of them. Add to that the fact that the story was written with shifting first-person views, and I think that the story was a bit of a miss for me.
So, I am giving this 3 out of 5 stars. The story had a lot going for it, but it just didn't come together in the end for me.
