LOVE REVISITED: NICK and TETSUJI from BC II SUCH A GOOD BOY is a quick read with a lot of punch and promises of things to come!
That was what I thought when I was done reading this novelette. I was really looking forward to finding out about Nick and Tetsuji since I read Beautiful C*cksucker which is what BC stands for folks! This is another novelette from author Barbara Sheridan where the reader is first introduced to Miki Nabeshima, Tetsuji's father. Nick, however, does not make an appearance here. The story deals with Miki's return to New York City on a special fact-finding detail as an Inspector from Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department. No references are made to his son either. Nick and Tetsuji's story happens decades later.
Nicholas "Nick" Denison is a brilliant lawyer and one of the firm's managing partners. Tetsuji is an apprentice law clerk and Nick's protege. Despite Nick's success, he feels burned out. Age is creeping in. He misses having someone - someone like Miki and young, passionate, intelligent Tetsuji reminds him so much of the older Nabeshima. Will each dare cross the line?
For such a short piece, the author managed to pack in a lot of details which was amazing. I learned about Nick and Tetsuji's feelings, moods and activities. She pulled this as well with Beautiful C*cksucker. I got a little lost though with a couple of names mentioned here and there as no backstories were provided which had a bearing on Nick and Tetsuji's lives. It did not bother me that much anyway so it was alright.
I was just so interested to read the May/December slant from an M/M perspective. However, the story is just too short to find out if Nick and Tetsuji would have an HEA. Will we know in another novelette?
I do hope the next one would be at least a novella in length. It would even be better if it were a novel where Nick and Tetsuji reunites with Miki. I can picture the three and the drama that could unfold. That would be an exciting read to look out for!
