Revisit all of your Kowalski favorites while falling in love with a brand-new romance in this reunion novel from New York Times bestselling author Shannon Stacey
Laney Caswell is looking for a change. A decade's worth of less-than-happy matrimony behind her, she wants peace—movies, books and, best of all, a new job at the Northern Star Lodge in Whitford, Maine. Spending the summer living in a camper is her chance to rediscover what makes her happy, and a perfect transition to her new life.
Being a paramedic in Whitford is nothing like Ben Rivers's city life, but when Josh Kowalski offers him the job, the lure of his hometown is too much to resist. Also too much to resist: Laney Caswell. Ben always thought he'd have a wife and kids, a happy family like the Kowalskis have all built, but he never made time in his life. Now he's found a woman who draws him like no other and helps him dream again—and the last thing she wants is a husband.
When the annual Kowalski family camping trip is moved to the Northern Star, both Ben and Laney are surrounded by the kind of happiness they've always wanted but never had. It just might be theirs—if they can put aside the past and reach for it together.

3 crazy family reunion stars for WHAT IT TAKES.
Ben Rivers has moved back to his hometown of Whitford, Maine when his friends offered him a paramedic job just as he was looking to make a change. He doesn't expect to meet Laney Caswell, or the attraction that bubbles up between them whenever they're together. But Laney isn't looking for another man; she's just happy learning to care for herself after a disastrous marriage. Can Ben break through her defenses and show her that love is worth taking a chance on?
WHAT IT TAKES is the 10th book in the Kowalski Family series, and the first in that series that I've read. I'll preface by saying that I'm a huge fan of Ms. Stacey's work, particularly her Boston Fire series, but I struggled to get through this one. WHAT IT TAKES is billed as a reunion novel, so much of the book was spent trying to describe the intricate and vast Kowalski family, where they're parking their campers and what they brought to eat. The remainder was primarily from Ben and Laney's POV, with a few others thrown in for shits and giggles, I guess. I'm sure that fans of this series will be obsessed with this 352 page camping, 4-wheeling, kid-chasing family reunion tale, but for me it was incredibly boring excursion into a family I'm not invested in.
Bottom Line: No OM/OW or sharing; various condom use (sex scenes between different couples); no BDSM/kink; no sexual assault; no violence/murder.
