- Book 1 of The Siren Legacy
When an immortal warrior meets a Scottish lass bewildered by the magic she has inherited, he yearns to protect her. But will his attentions doom them both to Zeus' anger? Or worse, make his lovely mortal the target of the goddess Circe's growing evil?
Alec Cantio is the son of a siren. He and his three brothers hide their true identities while protecting humans from the negligence of the gods. All Alec wants when he visits his favorite magic shop, Speak O' the Devil, are provisions for his task. But he finds instead a mortal woman, innocent and brave, who tempts him with all he is forbidden to have.
Eilidh MacLeod just wants to close her granddad's shop, and mourn him in peace. But when she's thrust into a world filled with magic, mythical creatures, and gods, she must find a way to control her powers, or be destroyed by a vengeful Circe. But how can she concentrate around the magnetic Alec? Her powerful attraction to him could endanger them all.

He is cursed by the Gods to never have love. When he meets her, he is tempted to break all the rules. She is just learning that the myths her grandfather taught her are very real. She is tempted by this gorgeous man who is so protective of her. When the danger gets close to home, they will have to trust their love is true and will protect them from harm.
Alec Cantio is one of four brothers who are at the mercy of the gods. He is the son of a siren and an immortal who is tasked with finding missing relics. One thing he is forbidden from finding is a love of his own. He can enjoy women for a night or two but never have a family of his own. It hits him hard when he meets Eilidh. She is a temptation he can't resist. When she finds herself in great harm, he will take on the challenge to keep her safe regardless of the personal risks.
Eilidh has just come from Scotland temporarily to close out her grandfather's magic shop. She thought his tales were all just stories until she meets Alec and encounters a very deadly enemy. Eilidh learns about her own magical abilities that are making themselves known when she is in danger. Her introduction to this new world of magic scares her. She wants to go back to a simpler time. Alec is the one person she can count on but she fears even he can not keep them safe from so much danger.
Each paranormal author has their own interpretation of the different types of characters. Sirens in most of the other stories tend to be just women. In the majority of books, only the female offspring can inherit the siren's abilities. The author gives us four brothers who are sirens and can control others with their singing like the legends indicate. Only their true love is safe from their deadly call. They have struggled with their "curse" which has kept them from having true love. If their love is not true, the person will become mindlessly devoted to pleasing them and lose all control. It is an interesting premise and opened up the story to go in a different direction than I expected.
The author takes the time to really develop a strong storyline which guides all the action. The characters are also well developed. The author provides the relevant background on the characters you need to understand their motivations and actions. Everything the characters did was very consistent with what you know about them. It did not mean there were not surprises but those twists made sense considering the information provided. I often find that the male character is not as well developed as the female main character. In this book, I actually felt closer to Alec. His past was very detailed and really explained his desires and fears regarding love.
I enjoy paranormal romances that include a variety of supernatural characters and this book includes many different types. There is a lot of action and adventure as they battle a deadly enemy and try to earn the right to pursue their love. It is a fast paced read with great character development and a storyline that keeps your interest with each turn.
