In the City of Love, she has nothing left to lose except her heart...
Penniless and stranded abroad, Lady Adele Sinclair's survival depends on her brother's ability to charm the ladies. After Adele meets the man of her dreams and he makes an offer of marriage, she's certain her struggles have come to an end. However, when one of her brother's assignations turns dangerous, the siblings must flee for their lives, separating Adele from the only man she has ever loved.
He is just another fool for love...
Jaded by betrayal, Marcus Fletcher spends his days at the Drayton Theatre, a small London Playhouse, attempting to forget the lady who left him. When Lady Adele shows up at the theatre expecting him to honor their betrothal agreement, he must decide if he will play the fool for her again or possibly lose the only woman who has ever been able to break down the walls around his heart.

Adele Sinclair and her brother, Harry, are the children of a duke, yet they were turned out of their home when their father remarried. Now living in Paris with no means of support, Harry has resorted to becoming a plaything for wealthy women, so that he and Adele can survive. When Adele meets Marcus Fletcher, and they fall in love and plan to marry, she feels her troubles are finally over. Thanks to a thoughtless act by Harry, their troubles are just beginning.
Marcus is wrongly accused of theft and is thrown in jail without sufficient funds on him to be released. Waiting for Adele to come to his rescue appears to be pointless, as she never shows, and Marcus languishes in prison for months, until his horrible father comes to bail him out by offering a devil's bargain. Finally free but embittered, Marcus returns to England, determined to forget his fickle fiancée and her thieving brother.
In reality, Adele was not fickle at all. She and Harry have been scrimping, trying to save up the fine to pay for Marcus' release. Thanks to the corrupt guards, she couldn't afford to buy her way in to see him, and all her letters were confiscated. Now also back in England, Adele learns of Marcus' return, and is hurt and baffled when he doesn't come to see her. When they finally come face to face, Marcus is no longer the loving man she came to know. He considers their engagement broken, and continues to think the worst of her and Harry. Is there any possibility of reconciliation when his faith and trust in Adele is broken? Adele is determined to fight, and to win back her lost love.
A LADY TO REMEMBER is a short story which is chock full of desperation, love lost, corruption, and betrayals. The path here to happy ever after is a very precarious and rocky one.
