Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense/Mystery
A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new romantic suspense from USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne.
Derek Spencer hadn't even bothered to RSVP to his Catfish Creek's high school reunion. He'd been too busy fighting a war in Afghanistan in his capacity as a Marine and wouldn't even be in the States during the event. Unfortunately, one emergency phone call from his mother changed everything.
Tessa Daniels had been voted most likely to do everything back in high school. She somehow didn't think that included acquiring her very own stalker at the relatively young age of twenty-eight. It had stopped being simply annoying after someone broke into her house, invading her privacy. Now, she was actually in fear for her life.
Derek's mother feels terrible that her son has spent almost every waking hour at the hospital, watching over his recovering father. She sets out—and succeeds—in arranging for Derek and Tessa to attend their high school reunion together. Neither one of them expected sparks to fly or memories of long-lost crushes to emerge, but they are not only faced with their newfound passion…they must also confront the person trying to extinguish their chance to rekindle the flames of past desires.

4 old school stars for HONOR.
As a Marine serving in Afghanistan, the last thing on Derek Spencer's mind was his high school reunion. But when he comes home to visit his ill father, old friend and his dad's nurse Tessa Daniels piques his interest enough to accompany her. Tessa has accumulated a stalker the last few weeks, and if nothing else, she knows that she'll have a worry free evening with someone who could protect her if needed. Neither anticipated the attraction that bubbles up between them, but are smart enough to take advantage of it while they can. Derek has no intention of staying in Catfish Creek longer than a few weeks, nor does he want to subject a woman to life alone while he is still in the service. But sometimes fate has other plans.
HONOR is the fourth book in the Bad Boy Homecoming series and the first book by Ms. Layne that I've had the pleasure of reading. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. The chemistry between Tessa and Derek was well written, as was the suspense element that had me on edge waiting to find out who was behind her stalking. There were very few sex scenes, and I would've liked more from this couple because what was there was super hot. And while the insta-love situations never fail to drive me insane with anger, it was tempered in HONOR by Derek's return to the service and some long distance dating, which I appreciated. I wouldn't mind picking up more in this series if this is an example of what's in the series!
Bottom Line: No OM/OW or sharing; condom use; no BDSM/kink; no sexual assault; light violence, no murder.
