Action/Adventure Romance, Contemporary Romance

The secret I'd discovered about sexy billionaire Gavin Kingsley was so big, so haunting wasn't something I could overcome. I had a decision to make—hear him out and see where things went, or turn to his brother Cooper, who I was fairly certain was in love with me. But something dark inside of Gavin called to something dark inside of me. And I wasn't willing to just walk away—not yet anyway.

This is the conclusion to Emma Bell's epic love affair with the alpha and enigmatic Kingsley brothers. Secrets will be exposed, sides will be chosen, and nothing will ever be the same.

3 not so dirty little stars for DIRTY LITTLE PROMISE.

When Emma Bell finds out that her employer and lover Gavin Kingsley lost his last girlfriend under VERY suspicious circumstances, she knows she has to back off. His penchant for rough sex and her history in an abusive relationship makes her wonder whether they're a good match at all. But she can't seem to quit him. Gavin knows he's lucky as hell that Emma is his and not his brothers', that he came dangerously close to losing the best thing that ever happened to him due to his impenetrable walls. He vows to show her every day just how much she means to him. Especially since someone's got Emma in their sights and he knows he'll have to protect her from a madman.

I adored the first book in the Forbidden Desires series, Dirty Little Secret…quite frankly, I enjoy just about everything that Ms. Ryan releases…but I'll admit DIRTY LITTLE PROMISE didn't live up to the stellar story that was book 1. There was something about the way that Emma and Gavin changed as a couple so completely that was kind of dull, and without Ms. Ryan's signature humor, it just fell flat. Also frustrating was that Gavin built up this need for sexual control so completely, but when it got right down to it, it flerrrpt'd like a limp balloon. A good pounding and arms being held down does not D/s make. And I was completely let down by the anticlimactic suspense element! It could've been soooo good, but it just…wasn't. The sense of danger that permeated this read was summed up in a few sentences, reminding me of the disappointment I felt all those Christmases I didn't get the pet unicorn I'd begged Santa for. Even with these issues, I'd be willing to bet that most readers will go as gaga over this as Dirty Little Secret, because the sex and romance were well written and seriously hot. But for me, it just left me with a giant "meh" feeling that feels foreign with this author.

Bottom Line: Slight OW scenario, no OM or sharing; no condom use; no BDSM, very light kink; no sexual assault; no violence/murder.
