She wants a baby.

All I've ever desired is a family of my own. Too afraid I'll follow in my late mother's footsteps, I plan to have a baby before time runs out. Problem is, I fell in love with someone unattainable. John Hamilton is kind, thoughtful, and generous...and it doesn't hurt that he's built like a Mack truck. I'm ready to throw caution to the wind and ask him to be the father of my child. The only problem? He's my stepbrother, and it could destroy our family.

He just wants her.

The first time I met Emery Collins, she was a scrawny teenager...and my new stepsister. She's a grown woman now, and every long, hard inch of me has taken notice. But with our family ties, she's officially off limits. Too bad she's come to me with something she wants, something she needs from me. Now I can't stop dreaming of filling her...of watching her belly swell with my child. What she's asking for could tear apart our cobbled-together family. I'm just not sure it's enough to stop me from taking what I want.

Let's make some babies!

John has tried to keep his distance from the one woman he can't seem to deny his attraction to. She's also the only woman he can't ever have, because she's his stepsister. Sure, their parents married when he was already out of the house, but John worries that their joined family may not be able to withstand a scandal of this magnitude if he were to give in to his desires. And it's about to get a lot harder for him.

Emery wants a baby. She's close to losing her ability to have children and now is the time. She also knows exactly who she wants to father her child. He might be her stepbrother in name but he's become her best friend and there is no one else she'd rather share this with. If only he would stop trying to avoid her long enough to hear her proposition. And her fingers are crossed that he'll agree because plan B? Well, she doesn't have one.

I just love stepbrother romances. This one also has a baby angle, but the baby doesn't come during the story, so no worries about dirty diapers getting in the way of the romance. It's just pure naughty fun with a side of taboo forbidden-ish love for a couple who start off as best friends. So it checks off a lot of my favorite themes.

John really has a deliciously dirty mind. That is apparent from the first chapter when we get to see things from his point-of-view. I had no trouble connecting with his character and I rooted for him immediately. Emery was another likable character and I sympathized with her situation. I hoped the two wouldn't take too long to come together and I'm happy to say that they didn't.

The romance was definitely spicy and plentiful. The couple already had an established friendship so it was easy to believe their connection was real. I enjoyed every love scene and there was lots of variety packed into this novella. Never really a boring moment and it had a satisfying ending.

My only complaint was I found John's dirty talk to be a little too much at times. It was pretty obvious that it was written by a woman. I've just never seen a man use such long-winded descriptions and so often. It felt a little forced and unrealistic, which took me out of the story a time or two. But it's a small thing to complain about and other readers may not care at all.

In closing...
I definitely need to check out more of this author's work. 4.5 stars!
