BDSM, Erotic Romance, LGBTQ
Moving on after his wife leaves him, middle-aged John explores a side of himself he'd pushed aside since college, and dates men. It's not working out too well when Logan, a local professor looking to rent the apartment over John's garage, enters his life. John doesn't expect Logan--younger, pierced, tattooed--to be anything more than a monthly rent check, but he accidentally overhears Logan's steamy BDSM session with a casual partner and he's turned on like never before. He can't stop thinking about what it would be like to be the one on his knees.
It doesn't take much to persuade Logan to teach John how to be a sub, but the experiment in submission quickly turns into much more than John ever dreamed of. The sex is sizzling but it's the sense of fulfillment John feels when he yields control to Logan that he craves. Despite Logan's struggle to adjust to being in a relationship and John's inexperience, they're moving toward something good when John's faced with a choice. Two paths lie before him, both offering happiness, but only one calls for his surrender, body and heart, to the one he loves.

This contemporary romance blooms into a satisfying tale of self-discovery. John is a middle age man who questions if he should have been married to a woman. With strained relations, John's wife leaves him. Isolated, John appears to be in suspended animation, just waiting for his wild wife to return to him. To his surprise, a tattooed tough guy applying to be his tenant jolts John back into the land of the living.
Full disclosure, I did not read the blurb of this book. I picked it up solely because of the authors. Ms. Davitt and Ms. Snow pen lovely romances with realistic characters that it is easy for me to just go in cold. I went into this book with no expectations. The experience is delightful. The story starts out slow with Logan searching for a place to live. It is clear that Logan is often judged by his looks and tattoos. He fits the alternative lifestyle stereotype as a sexual dominant male with a sadistic streak. He is also a professor at a local university which is what catches people off guard. It certainly throws John for a loop.
I loved the two characters in this book. Both John and Logan are so different and as they interact, they come closer together. They can see each other's points of view and appreciate the differences. Their sexual chemistry is smoldering hot. The sexual journey Logan entices John into is an erotic epiphany. With a little teasing smack and overheard moans, John cannot help but fall into Logan's kinky world. It is fun watching John be introduced to the kinky lifestyle. Ms. Davitt and Ms. Snow do an excellent job of showing how relationships can organically grow into a kinky erotic power exchange. As always, their BDSM is spot on.
This story is more than just a love story. The authors add depth to it with strained relationships and a shocking tragedy. The give and take of this relationship and how the two work hard to build trust is what makes this story so good. It brings about a realism which captivates a reader. At the end of the story, it feels as if we are friends and know John and Logan. This kinky erotica is recommended to m/m readers who are looking for a sweet and meaningful romance.
