- Book 7 of Last Chance Rescue
Honor Stone is a young, idealistic FBI agent when her path collides with Seth Cavanaugh. For a girl who has never walked on the wild side, the dark and dangerous Seth is a temptation she can't refuse. But then Seth walks out the door and out of her life.
Five years later, Honor is an operative with the elite Last Chance Rescue organization and Seth is a desperate ex-cop searching for his missing niece—one of many young women who have mysteriously vanished from college campuses. Going undercover, Honor will attract the maniacal cult leader behind the kidnappings and find a way to work with Seth—while steering clear of the passion and need that's just one touch away from explosion.
Seth knows he had all the right reasons for the wrong he did five years ago. And from the moment he sees her—and takes her in his arms again—this former undercover man will risk everything for one more chance with Honor.

I am amazed and impressed and riveted and fascinated! Rarely has a book kept me turning page after page, long after I should've been asleep. And what do you know, I just had to finish it!
SWEET JUSTICE opens with a punch! Right from the first page, Christy Reece involved us in a mystery: Why did this good man, the hero, allegedly commit murder? By the time we knew why, we were fully invested in Seth and his cause, and we feel his heartbreak when he had to break up with the woman he loved in order to protect her. The tension--sexual, emotional and otherwise--never lets up; it kept me right on the edge of my seat until the last word.
Five years later, Seth's mission was over, but he was a changed man. Little did he know the huge price he would pay for his decision to go undercover--the break up with Honor, the division in his family and even the changes in himself. Yet all that was put aside as his niece went missing. He went to Last Chance Rescue for help, and who should be leading the team but Honor Stone, the woman he'd loved and left...and who still affected him like no other.
Christy Reece's writing is clear and addictive. She knows just how to pull you in and make you feel for her characters, whether it was angst or suspense or desire. I especially love the little touches she gave Seth's and Honor's past--like the first time Seth walked into Honor's closet, the little game they'd play while eating, etc. These really made the characters that much more whole and well-rounded and their past more real and believable...and you could see why they would hurt and ache with the loss.
Seth and Honor are flawed characters, yet they are likeable and relatable. As much as they are already strong individuals at the start of the book, they grew and developed over the course of the story, become even stronger, both by themselves and as a team. I also like the way the secondary characters played into the development of their relationship, for example, Honor's mom and also Noah McCall.
The suspense part of the plot is done pretty well, I must say, and I like the way we didn't see what the villains are like from the start. Layers are peeled off as the story progresses, making it deep and complicated as the human psyche. Just when I thought I knew what their villainy is all about, Ms Reece surprises me with a twist here and a revelation there.
SWEET JUSTICE is one riveting, exciting, suspenseful read! I came into this series with this book, and I must say that this book is standalone and can be enjoyed without reading the first six books that came before it. But who am I kidding? I'm off to check them out, as well the next two books in this 3rd trilogy, Sweet Revenge and Sweet Reward. In fact, I'll keep on reading books in the Last Chance Rescue series, as long as Christy Reece keeps on writing them! Highly recommended.
