BDSM, Erotic Romance, Ménage or more
Is Lara's life complicated? Not really. On the evening of her divorce, she dumps her jerk fiancé while at dinner with him and her now ex-husband, Everett, and Everett's boyfriend, Wylie. That's where she meets their hunky neighbor, Brad, and his teenage son, Mark.
That's not complicated at allll.
Dr. Brad Jarred is well aware some people assume he's little more than a Florida Cracker cowboy, but he's actually an accomplished chemist running his family's ranch, all while being a single father. He loves Lara's spirit…and her strong will. She's exactly the kind of take-charge woman he's longed to meet and love. One thing's for certain—at least Everett and Wylie are rooting for a relationship to flourish between the couple.
Now that Lara has the kind of guy she's always wanted, can she be the woman Brad needs? More importantly, will Mark accept her in their lives? And why won't her whackadoodle ex fiancé leave her alone?
Note: This book features a heroine who is a Domme.

Divorcing a best friend, dumping a douche bag fiance and then finding perhaps the man of your dreams all in less than a week is an accomplishment. Not sure if it is a good or bad feat, Lara's head is still whirling. This book overlaps the book Splendid Isolation which featured Lara's husband, Everett. This book can be read as a standalone but it is a better experienced if Splendid Isolation is read first.
Everett is now Lara's ex-husband. This was a long time coming and finally moving forward because of Lara's fiance, Steve, who wants to get married. Good thing Steve shows his true colours before the wedding and Lara avoids making a big mistake. Lara's track record with men has not been the best. A bit gun shy, she moves slowly with Brad. The pace is so slow, even I am hoping the two of them finally get it on.
Lara and Brad's relationship is a nice change of pace with a femdom dynamic. It is nice to see Lara's tentative steps towards kinky sex as this is all new to her. Her experimentation with Brad is sweet and completely believable. Ms. Dalton shows her kink repertoire is a full range with this new to femdom erotica. It is sweet and smoking hawt. The slow build up adds so much heat that when Lara and Brad finally get together, it is explosive. I also like how Brad is portrayed as a submissive. Ms. Dalton lightly touches upon the myths of a male submissive and dispels it with a positive portrayal. If I was more toppy, I'd take Brad in a heartbeat. One word - pegging! Yes, all my femdom friends, there is a bit of pegging in this story and it is absolutely delicious. Not to be missed.
This story is more than just a romance. It is a story about creating families and coming out as one's true self. This recurring motif of being true to oneself hits home for me. To let a little part of oneself die because of a lover or family member is a terrible experience. That fire which makes each of us individuals, when snuffed out, leaves a shell of a person. Each of the relationships in this story gently shows how to extract from a relationship that isn't working. And how to continue it is possible to keep a friendship even when relationships does not work out. It also shows the fears of coming out to family members. This is a feel good story with sex, ass kicking and sweet romance - a little bit of everything. This kinky erotica is recommended to as a gateway to femdom book.
