Contemporary Romance, LGBTQ
Down on his luck is Gideon Joy's default state. He doesn't know why he expected anything different on his cross-country trip, but not surprisingly, the hits keep coming—literally this time. Gideon strikes a moose with his car in New Hampshire, not only totaling his own vehicle, but damaging one belonging to local construction worker Silas Bright. He has no choice but to stay in Lancaster and take a job that'll pay for the repairs. And in a town so small, Gideon's always running into Silas. What starts as annoyance between them soon blooms into something much more romantic. But when Gideon's notorious bad luck rears its head yet again, how many disastrous dates will Silas be willing to weather before realizing Gideon's not worth it?
Despite Gideon's desire to remain in the quaint community that has accepted him as one of their own, past fears of inadequacy threaten the very joy he left Los Angeles to discover. If he's to find a happily ever after with Silas, Gideon must learn that sometimes it's okay to not be the best. And true happiness might be waiting in a small town nestled among the great White Mountains.

JOY was such a lighthearted and fun book to read, I had a great time with it and the characters were really sweet.
Gideon is trying to live a normal life, but chaos seem to find him everywhere he goes. Trying to keep himself away from that chaos isn't that easy for him when he finds himself in an unknown town, without a car or money. Now he has to put his bad luck aside and rely on the town folk's kindness. When he meet Silas, one of the locals, he finds in him what he didn't know he was looking for.
This was such a fun book to read. It is really short and the light spirit of it makes it so easy to read. The plot was nice and it had a nice humorous tone without taking the attention from the romance. I think it didn't deliver that much in the romance area, it start developing a little bit too advance in the story, but I still like it a lot.
The characters were great. I loved them both and it also had some nice secondary characters, although none of them stole the show. Gideon was so nice, and I liked him most of the time but I had a bit of an issue with him near the ending. I think he was overreacting, mostly on the last pages and it made me so mad at him. However, most of the time he was a nice character as well as Silas, who was wonderful.
Overall JOY was a great, fun and lighthearted story. This author is becoming one to keep an eye on. I would recommend it to any reader who likes M/M Romance and enjoy free of angst books.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading JOY. I read this in one sitting.
There's something about a guy who's down on his luck and the sweet and silent guy. Gideon and Silas are perfect for each as they balance out one another. Gideon's hints at insecurity is endearing and frustrating all at the same time. Silas being a man of few words gives you the wrong impression of him in the beginning, but once you get to know him... the book blossoms!
C.S. Poe's writing is great. The intent of all characters are clear and simple, and the writing is easy to understand. I've read one other C.S. Poe story and I enjoyed it. I can definitely add this author to my list of favorite authors.
