Book 3 of Walker Security
Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense/Mystery

Ex-special forces, Jacob King, is a man who keeps to himself, having learned the hard way that letting people close to you, trusting them, might just get you killed. A lesson he learned when members of his Special Ops team turned dirty, while others, men he considered friends, died. He made them pay. He made them hurt. He put them in jail. And so he doesn't trust anyone anymore. He keeps his women hot and fast, his friends few to none, and his clients through the elite Walker Security at a professional distance, but safe.

It works for him. Until it doesn't.

His newest job should be simple and cut and dry. Jewel Carpenter, the daughter of the CEO of Carpenter Enterprises, is receiving death threats. He's to protect her and find out who is issuing the treats.

Simple. Cut and Dry.

Until it's not.

Until the chemistry between he and Jewel is all about love, hate, and sex. But even as he fights the attraction to Jewel and discovers there is more to her than meets the eye, the real threat comes not from the threats she's receiving, but the connection she has to him. Because his past has come full circle, and those men he's made pay for their sins now want him to pay. And what better way than the woman in his bed?

5 murderous stars for FALLING UNDER!

New York City detective Jewel Carpenter specializes in death. With the murders of her uncle, mother and best friend, Jewel is determined to catch all the killers she can so their deaths won't be in vain. When Jewel attracts the attention of a stalker, her father isn't taking any chances, hiring Walker Security's Jacob King to shadow her and ensure she has the backup to stay safe. Jewel is pissed…she doesn't need someone protecting her--SHE'S the protector! But to make her dad happy, she relents, and after a rough start, she and Jacob become something resembling friends…if friends want to rip each other's clothes off. Repeatedly. Jacob is willing to lay his life on the line to keep Jewel safe, but he's got to earn her trust before she'll even let him near her. With danger coming from the left and right, the two of them, along with the Walker Security team, will have to pool all of their resources if they're going to neutralize the threats.

FALLING UNDER is book 3 in the Walker Security series and the first one I've read, but I'll definitely go back for more!! This was an excellent book, even without the understanding of the first two reads. Jacob and Jewel were both completely badass, and I loved the play off of one another. Ms. Jones created a new (to me) scenario of a detective needing her own help. You don't typically see that kind of dynamic, and the push/pull between them as Jewel tried to come to terms with knowing she couldn't fully protect herself without help was nicely written. FALLING UNDER was a very suspenseful book as well, leading the reader on with legit clues and red herrings from page one. And it was super sexy without being unrealistic! Witness:

He grabs a roll of paper towels and tears one off, before offering it to me. He pulls out and I stuff it between my legs, because at moments like this, there is no beautiful. There is just wet stuff and oh shit, is that my bra, on the light above the island?

While the grammar may seem a little off in that passage (and in truth, the book as a whole could use some TLC from an editor), it flows with the overall feel of the story. I love that FALLING UNDER was so raw and gritty and real and not written with rose-colored glasses. I will most certainly pick up more from this excellent author!

Bottom Line: No OM/OW or sharing; no condom use; very mild BDSM/kink (bondage); no sexual assault; loads of violence/murder.
