Book 3 of Viking Warriors
Historical Romance

Can the Peacemaker tame a warrior bride?

When Njal the Peacemaker meets his bride-to-be, she's dressed in breeches, flaunting a crossbow, and covered in boar's blood. What he needs is a woman skilled with words, a woman with exquisite manners, a cunning woman capable of maneuvering the political intrigue of a king's court. Not this rough country lass whose skill with a crossbow rivals his.

Bettina has no desire to wed a peacemaker. She needs a Viking warrior who'll strike fear into the hearts of her enemies, a man of strength who can thwart her step-uncle's theft of her castle's treasures. But Nyal the Peacemaker wields words, not weapons—until their wedding night proves he's also a man of passion. Neither can resist the heat of their coupling, but can a man who values peace be enough for a warrior bride?

I have to say that Jianne Carlo has a way about her writing that I just love. She gives us great heroines--ones that are strong and able to match their alpha males heroes, but also ones that have the capacity to love that is surprising even them. In THE PEACEMAKER, we are treated to another one of these great heroines, and with her warrior fierceness, she makes yet another Viking warrior hopelessly in love.

Nyal, the viking warrior known as The Peacemaker, meets his bride-to-be, Bettina and is horrified to find that she is more warrior than lady. He needs a woman who can help him when it comes to his sensitive negotiations in the king's court, not one who can kill a boar. He's very surprised to find that underneath her breeches and the crossbow, there is a woman that he truly desires.

Bettina doesn't need a man who uses words to solve her problems. She needs a warrior who can protect her and her mother from the man who plans to have them. But after the night of passion they experience on their wedding night, they know that they can not resist the feelings between them.

I loved this novella! THE PEACEMAKER is the third novella in the Viking Warrior series and it was a blast to read. The heroine was strong and stubborn, the hero was so alpha and exasperated. But through it all, they found a love that was unexpected but welcomed.

The plot to this book had political intrigue, betrayal, and of course fighting, and I just ate it all up. Who knew that the Vikings were so diplomatic? I have just loved the world that Jianne Carlo has created here.

The only thing I wish for is that I wish we would see some of the older couples in the new stories to see how they are doing. That doesn't detract from the stories as they are written but I find myself wondering. Because there's not a lot of backstory, THE PEACEMAKER can be read as a standalone or in sequence. I have enjoyed each and every one of the stories in this series. I can't wait to see which warrior will fall next!
