Surviving a broken heart, courtesy of Steve Jamison—the love of her life who left her without warning or an explanation—has been Anne's daily struggle for the last fifteen months.
During that same time, only the thought of revenge has sustained Steve, who was double crossed and nearly beaten to death. Phase one of that revenge is to lure Anne to a remote lodge and punish her for the role in his betrayal, a betrayal that left him scarred emotionally as well as physically. His plan is to take her in all the ways he fantasized, to mercilessly use her body to reclaim his virility.
As sexual boundaries are crossed, defenses come down and truths emerge, but the truth may be even more devastating than the lies they'd each believed.

Both Anne Holmes and Steve Jamison are recovering from broken hearts, courtesy of those they both might have once considered partners, friends, or family. For Anne, every day of the last fifteen months has been a struggle trying to understand what happened--how things could have gone so wrong. For Steve, the thought of revenge has filled his time coupled with healing from a beatdown that almost killed him. While Anne is looking to move on, Steve has other plans.
Likes: I always enjoy a premise like this. It's rife with revenge and redemption in oh so many delicious ways. And the sensual scenes between Steve and Anne were fun and engaging to read. The whole idea that there's multiple betrayals / misunderstandings that need to be sorted through before the couple can come back together.
Dislikes: This is a story that I wanted to like completely because who doesn't enjoy a "lovers to enemies to lovers" sort of a story, right? And while I liked the beginning AND the end, the middle seemed to get bogged down with a need for too much to take place / be explained in far too little word count. I felt like, if the story were a bit longer, there would be a much better story. As it was, given everything that Steve did to Anne, her turnaround took place far too fast making it seem a bit too well tidied up in a neat package. For others, this might not be an issue, but for me, well, I was really glad that the story ended on such a sweet high when some certain someones get their just desserts.
