Contemporary Romance

This isn't a story about a love triangle. There is no triangle involved.
This isn't a story about an accidental pregnancy. Although having a baby with her . . . I would.
This isn't a story about lies and deception, even though at times I've lied to myself.
No, this is my story.
A story about sacrifice.
A story about a man who fell in love with the wrong girl.
A story I wish I never had to tell.
This is a story about the true meaning of the downside of love.

After Rory Oaks broke things off with Colby Brooks so he wouldn't be tempted to stick around and lose out on his chance to fly for the Air Force, she was devastated. Rory will never leave Colorado Springs and her autistic brother Bryan, and a long distance relationship isn't fair to either of them. Thank goodness for Stryder Sheppard. As Colby's BFF, Stryder has been wrecked with guilt for falling for Rory, but from the second he laid eyes on her, his heart was gone. He's stayed away because of the bro-code, but Colby's gone, and he's never coming back. When he discovers Rory feels the same way, Stryder is gobsmacked, but they both know that some day Colby will find out. Can their love weather the impending storm?

Wooohhhh mama! This is one crazy second book in the Blue Line duet! This story is completely different than book 1 (which I liked) in the best possible ways. I was really unsure about the change in Rory's love interest between books, because, who does that? I thought it'd feel like a cheating scenario, but it 100% did not. Ms. Quinn developed Stryder's backstory, especially his feelings for Rory, so organically that I couldn't help but fall squarely into the Team Stryder camp. His character was so well written and had such layers that it's impossible not to fall for him. I'm unsure about the twist at the end however…I'm sure Ms. Quinn will be brilliant as always in what she fleshes out, but right now it feels pretty contrived. We shall see!

Bottom Line: Maybe kinda sorta but not really a OM/OW sitch; mixed condom use; no BDSM/kink; no sexual assault; no violence/murder.
