During negotiations for a truce between the feuding Pierce and Morgan families, Lord John Morgan makes a shocking offer: he will give the Pierce family their land, in exchange for Harrison Pierce's hand in marriage.
John has long been enamored with Harrison, the beautiful son of his late rival. Harrison is nineteen, inexperienced, and known for being cold and bitingly brilliant. The union seems impossible, but John is determined to win the affections of his young obsession.
Will the frigid Harrison concede, or will the object of John's adoration leave him alone at the altar?

The rivalry between the Price and Morgan family might come to an end, if Lord John Morgan's offer to have his late rival's son hand in marriage is accepted. To Harrison Price, the proposal is a surprise and it comes in the worst possible circumstances. The possibilities that would come if he gets his land back, however, makes him consider the offer.
This was a lot sweeter and more romantic than I expect. I enjoyed reading it a lot. I was a little skeptical of romance developing in such a few words, but it worked perfectly. It doesn't feel forced. I was worried that Lord Morgan might not be a likable character, but I was wrong. They both are lovely characters and the moments they shared as a couple were beautiful.
The plot was nice. A bit predictable but it still had some interesting twists. The writing style felt appropriate for the setting and it was easy to read. One of the things that I liked the most about it was the emotions the main characters felt, mostly by Harrison. The sorrow was palpable all along the story. I was worried the romance might overcome the other emotions but there was a perfect combination of them. I'm not really a big fan of historical romances but even with my preferences, I was able to love it. I would only guess that a person who prefer this setting is going to love it as well. Definitely recommended.
