Suzanne Butterfield wanted what her friend Tonya had. A man who knew how to control her life, worship her body and make her submit. Of course it helped that Tonya's man was an Alpha of his werewolf pack, built like a tank, and tall as a mountain. Did she dare enter the Dragon's Den Tonya told her about? A place where Vampire King Dominic ruled and demanded that all women who entered his play area submit to the men he entertained in all ways?

Dominic Hazelfield, a vampire king and dragon shifter, is a true master not only to his vampire kingdom, but in his BDSM club. By opening this club in New Orleans, Dominic believed he would finally find his true blood mate, that she would just walk into his den and submit her body and soul to him to care for. But what he didn't expect was a small human woman with curves that left him breathless. Let alone the fact he had three other males for mates also.

The five of them come together, not only to protect each other, but to prepare for what the Goddess of Vampires, Empusa, has warned them about - the war between good and evil.

BOOK INTERVIEW on September 2011
Interview by Rho

Trinity, we really appreciate you taking the time out your schedule to answer some questions about you latest book, RUNNING INFEAR: DRAGON'S DEN and the Running in Fear Series. Let's jump right in, shall we?

Q: RUNNING IN FEAR: DRAGON'S DEN is book five in the Running in Fear Series. How did you come up with the concept for the series?

At first I had three books in my mind, but after, the three other characters kept popping up in my head. My fans kept asking for more stories and a greater plot formed to connect the other stories that wanted to be brought to life. So, for right now, I have at least three more planned maybe more, and I might even branch off to a new series, who knows.

Q: In RUNNING IN FEAR: DRAGON'S DEN, Dominic, king of the Vampires, has four mates. How much different is it making a relationship of five work versus a couple or even a trio?

Very. Names play an important part. If you don't have a name, your readers are not going to know who is doing what. I also try and bring to the front the interaction between the males in the group. Are they jealous, is there any competition between them. Each person has his own life, and then all of sudden they're all thrown together. In later stories I hope to write a story where each character works together fighting those that would threaten their world all the while forming their bond as a family.

Q: What are the nuances that make paranormal BDSM different than a regular BDSM novel (other than the obvious fact that one is paranormal and the other is not of course)?

One is how far is too far. I mean, sure they are paranormal, but even paranormal men and woman wouldn't cross the line—well, in my stories they won't. Example: I know for a fact there are some who actually enjoy needle play in the BDSM world (okay shivers here, so not me). This is an area I couldn't even see me writing because I personally could not do it. So my characters can't and won't. When something is too extreme for me it won't be in my books. Don't even ask me about golden showers. YUCK!

Q: Please share with us the qualities Dominic, Suzanne, Blair, Archer and Granger have that makes them the perfect quintet.

One strong quality they all have, which brings them together and binds them so close is their fierce need to protect each other. No matter what happens, each one would sacrifice their lives for the other. The four males all have a connection to each other, yet when it comes to Suzanne, their bond is different, more protective to make sure she knows she's the one who holds them all together. Without her, their circle would not be complete. They are all honest and willing to help anyone who needs it.

Q: There are many characters in RUNNING IN FEAR: DRAGON'S DEN, not just the main five mentioned above. What's your secret to give all those characters their own distinctive voice in the book?

For each book before, I tried to build all the characters that will come in proceeding books. Example: in the first book, Escape, we see Pierre's character die, but we see the foreshadowing of him throughout following books, leading to his own book, which is book six. I keep each character in the final plot; they will each play an important role to the final battle that will come. If I didn't mention a character, we are liable to forget him or her and we'd have to go back to the previous books.

Q: Suzanne, the human mate in the story had a very tragic life prior to meeting up with her four vampires. Please share with us something about her that will give us a bit more insight into her character.

If one read the other previous stories you will see a pattern here among the females in these stories. I don't want to give too much away, but there is a plot behind these females being hurt that ties into the main battle to come. In Dragon's Den, we see Remi and Dominic starting to make connections and there will be more.

Q: One of the things that struck me most about the book was that there were all kinds of paranormal beings present: shape-shifters, vampires, demons, witches and wizards, just to name a few. What type of research went into building this vast paranormal network you've created?

One was lots of reading. I have a collection of books that I love and have learned so many things from. Angela Knight, Emma Holly, and Sherrilyn Kenyon are just a few whom I‘ve learned so much from. I also use the Internet for a big part of my research, and I have a collection of paranormal research books I dig into for help also, but my best resource is my best friend Faith Bicknell-Brown. She has been there nonstop helping me with various things.

Q: We were left with a big cliffhanger in RUNNING IN FEAR: DRAGON'S DEN. Please give us a sneak peek into what's next for the series.

The next book is Ghost Warriors, which will pick up where Dragon's Den left off. If you have read Dragon's Den then you've already been introduced to the five main characters. Do you know who they are?

Q: Let's keep the readers guessing! LOL Which one of the characters in your Running in Fear series do you identify with the most, and why?

Suzanne, I put more of me into this character, hence even giving her my legal name Suzanne and a past trauma we both share.

Q: If someone were to ask you to give a description of your style of writing, what would you say?

Dark, erotic, wild, and always pushing me just to my limits—and always a happy ending. I also have to have the alpha male in my stories. I don't know what it is about a hot alpha male, but I can't write a story without one.

Q: Please let us know about any other projects you've got coming up or are working on.

Hmm, this is hard, because I have many in the fire. As many of your readers know, I also write as Maria MoonStar. Right now I'm working on book two of a series that Azura Ice and I created: Sky Streamers at Decadent Publishing. Then there is book two for Declaration of Possession, at Silver Publishing. For Trinity Blacio, my two short summer stories came out recently at Ravenous Romance, called SUMMER OF THE BEAST. I'm, of course, working on book six now also. For Ravenous Romance, I just turned in the second book following SURRENDER TO FRANKENSTEIN, one of the short stories that is in my summer release. This story MASQUERADE LOVE will be out in an anthology this Halloween. Oh yes, I also have half a book done for my new witch series I'm starting. So that will have to be finished as well. So, you see, I have many ongoing projects and yet I have more ideas I would love to start but can't until I get some of these projects finished. 

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions. It was great learning more about this interesting book and unique series!
