Running With A Dangerous Crowd
Lucas Simone is not the kind of guy you mess with. He's big, he's strong, and his eyes hint at a wilder side most women can't handle. Of course, that's because his predatory instincts are no metaphor-he's a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf, tough enough to fight his way to dominance over the scariest pack on the West Coast. There's only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent.
Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse-it's the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: one, she's not quite as innocent as she'd like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn't stop stoking Sarah's animal lust, it's only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed...

Cynthia Eden, they are all right. You ARE a writing goddess.
I've seen Cynthia Eden's name pop up all over the place- in reading challenges, book discussions, blogs, threads, and bookshelves. I'd been meaning to check her out, I'm fairly certain I'd managed to tag all her books on my to-be-read list, but somehow I'd failed to actually read any of them.
That will no longer be the case.
You know how it is when you find a new favorite author. You devour everything they've written. My Eden feasting will now begin.
NEVER CRY WOLF is the fourth in the Night Watch series. Clearly, I picked up well into the world building. I have no idea what the first three were about, but my lack of prior knowledge didn't affect my reading experience at all. In fact, I can only begin to guess where those stories took us.
Lucas Simone is one bad-ass alpha wolf. He's taken on the worst of the worst from a young age and fought his way to the top of the LA Pack. You don't mess with Lucas.
And Lucas won't mess with the weak.
He has a protective instinct a mile wide. And it's that protective streak that has Sarah King strutting into the LA jail claiming to be Lucas's alibi in hopes that he will take her under his wing. That's not the only lie she'll tell. As the story unfolds, your eyebrows will raise and your jaw will drop. Look for the clues. They are there like breadcrumbs pointing the way.
There's no denying that Lucas and Sarah are great characters. They have rich, interesting backgrounds and strong, compelling personalities. Their chemistry is on fire and I couldn't help but cheer on their romance. But for me, the part I liked the best was the suspense. It's a battle for dominance and not all the players are showing their cards.
The pace kept the wind in my hair and my hands holding on tight. There are cute little finger divots in my book to remind me of my unwillingness to put it down. Let's just say, I let my sixteen year old do the driving when I had to run errands with him just so I could keep reading. I was willing to take the new grey hairs he'd induce just to get through another chapter or two.
I found the story clever and wholly unpredictable. The twists, turns and reveals were all perfectly timed. And they worked in unison with the romantic plot to propel our couple into their happily ever after.
Honestly, friends, this ranked right up there with Dark Hunters, Midnight Breeds and Demonica for me. It's just great Paranormal Romance. Intense and suspense. If you are a PNR fan, you really need to check this one out. Enjoy!
