Sassy Melanie Marr is a phlebotomist who has terminal leukemia. The good news is that her doctor, dark and handsome Jakob Farkas, has a radical cure. As a vampire, he has the ability to heal her. But there's one small hitch, tired of his lonely existence, Farkas has not fed in over 100 years and needs to be brought back to health before he can help Melanie, with whom he has fallen in love.

Although Melanie doesn't believe the crazy doctor's story, she doesn't have much else going on at the moment besides dying. So she leaves boring Scranton and her tedious job in order to join Farkas as he travels around the world in search of a mystical cure.

As they await the arrival of the Spring Equinox in the legendary caves in Lascaux, France, Melanie wonders if she can overcome the greatest obstacle to her cure: her very mortality.

Given the choice of taking your chances with cancer or becoming a blood-sucking creature of the night, what would you do?

"You have leukemia." Three words designed to ruin a perfectly good day, destroyed Melanie Marr's existence. But when her sexy doctor offers her a choice and a chance, she's definitely pro-life, no matter the consequences.

Dr. Jacob Farkas hasn't fed on human blood in a hundred years and has never turned a human, but with Melanie's help, he knows that he can. He'll do anything to save the patient that he's fallen in love with.

This is not your typical romance. Yes, there is steamy sex. Yes, there is talk of love. Yes, there is hot hero and pretty heroine. But the romance is only an enhancer to a great story about people, emotions, and reactions. When given absolute power after years of starving, a fellow is bound to change. And when a woman is faced with doing things that aren't kosher just to save her own life, well a bit of the soul can be damaged.

I enjoyed the fast pace and movement that flowed throughout this story. I love a book that can sink you into the setting without overwhelming description and this is exactly what Ms Michaels did. She also gave us flawed characters to love. No one is perfect and we've all done things we regret, but how much is too much?

This book will have you taking a deeper look at your own morals, I know it did mine! I'm excited to see what else this author produces and if you love a great story with the romance sprinkled throughout, this is it.
