SUMMARY
As a member of the immortal Tuatha Dé Danann, Ana was sent to the human realm three hundred and fifty years ago by the Fae council to keep tabs on the self-banished High King. Once a Celtic god with a talent for stealing souls, she does her best to keep her life on as even of a keel as possible, despite the fact that her best friend, Lucas Edwards, is a vampire. Keep as low a profile as you can, that's Ana's motto while she's here. After all, she can live vicariously though Lucas.

Her tranquil life is thrown into a tailspin when an incident outside of her club points to her as the prime suspect in a high profile murder. As if that wasn't enough trouble, handsome, rich and a media darling, Stark Grantham walks into her life she can see her peace and calm being chipped away one precious chunk at a time. Not to mention, Stark's very, very human, as high profile as they come and everything Ana's spent her life trying to avoid.

Given Ana's Fae ability, a toxic touch that can be lethal to mortals, will his choice to be with Ana cost Stark his life?

Sara Brookes' new Rebirth Series has some serious chops, capturing readers in a well crafted world where vampires, humans and the Fae collide. FLASH OF DARK teases the reader with her take on the Otherworlders who live among us, sometimes scary, sometimes sexy, always more than anyone bargains for.

Ana Sullivan was sent to the human realm hundreds of years ago to watch over the High King of the Fae, Quinn O'Brien, who decides to live among the mortals. Running a popular bar and supported by her vampire best friend, Lucas, Ana performs her duties with little fanfare, determined not to get too involved with humans. A series of high profile murders threatens her sanctuary as does a chance meeting with Stark Grantham. Ana fights her desire and her supernatural powers as she and Stark race the clock to find a killer.

Gone are the days where heroes were muscle bound and saved the day. Stark Grantham, while a tastily depicted male specimen, captures the Fae Guardian with his brains and his determination. Captivated by the tabloid sensation that is Stark, Ana is no wilting flower. She fights and battles like the greatest warriors. More often than not, she saves the day – until her emotions get the better of her and force her to make decisions that have huge ramifications both personally and professionally. Stark and Ana's relationship is dark and sexy and takes the reader on a wild ride.

Ms Brookes' story weaves a web with a few holes but it's obviously setting the stage for additional storylines. With a cliffhanger ending, readers will be bound to struggle – only to realize it is because they want to read more. Ms Brookes' follow up installment, Blood Fever, is eagerly anticipated!

FLASH OF DARK, the first book in Sara Brookes' Rebirth series, has a refreshingly original plot sure to capture readers' attention. Though slow in the beginning, once the story takes off, readers will not be able to put it down. Revolving around the romance between a fae and a mortal, this book includes mystery, fantasy, and romance with some well-rounded solid characters in a magically creative world.

The story is told from the heroine Ana's perspective. Ana is a strong heroine and a member of the immortal Tuatha De Danann sent to the human realm hundreds of years ago to keep tabs on the self-banished High King. Once a Celtic god with a talent for stealing souls, she lives on the down-low, owns a bar and has a vampire for a best friend. As the details of how Ana has lived are slowly revealed, readers build a connection to this amazing heroine. She is strong, powerful and yet vulnerable – can't get more realistic than that.

Then enter Stark Grantham and her quiet life spins crazy. Ana can't resist the temptation of Stark, a handsome, rich, sweet and famous man who just happens to be human. Since Ana doesn't date humans, she fights her attraction to Stark but the chemistry between them is more intense than she's ever felt with a man. Ana puts up a strong resistance at first, but succumbs to her base desires under an attraction simply too powerful to ignore.

Ana shares her secret with Stark – confiding in him that she's a fae – and he instantly accepts her for who, and what, she is. Even though Ana has a lot of things about herself that she finds difficult to accept, Stark wants to know everything about her and encourages her not to hold back. Once he convinces her he's tough enough to take what she can give him, readers will smile as they watch the couple come together – first emotionally and then sexually with a passion that seems to consume them. It is absolutely delicious.

It's when she becomes a suspect in two high profile murders which take place just outside her bar that the mystery turns up. In a series of emotional scenes where readers will wonder if this couple will find their HEA, the story runs head first into an unexpected and emotionally charged ending. Fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy will enjoy this book.
