This second book in the Spirit Wolves series filled in some missing pieces to this on-going story but it also left me with more questions. MATES IN LIFE AND DEATH, and this series overall, has been quirky. With oversimplified storylines and weak characters, I haven't become invested in this group of characters. But for those looking for a fantasy read, this series may be for them.

The story began a hundred years ago when Caesar lost Linden to death from the feral virus. Now Caesar, reincarnated in the body of Dan, has recovered the memory of his previous life. Sensing his mate again, he discovers Linden is already mated to Ash and that they too may share in a threesome (like the men in the previous book). None are particularly happy about the possibility of sharing. But when fears from the past arise, their attraction to one another pulls them together. The story gets exciting just at the very end when some dangerous revelations come out and we learn more about the village in which Linden was raised. Dan and Ash fight together to keep Linden safe. And of course you get the happily ever after pending the next book in the series.

If you like fantasy tales and enjoy reading the m/m genre, try the series. But if you don't like it, don't say I didn't warn you.
