Shadows lengthen over the world. Turmoil rages.
Something evil this way comes . . . .
Emotionally conflicted avenger Chalice Noire, product of an unholy union between demon and angel, is a slayer to the forces of darkness. Employed by shadowy benefactors in Rome, her sect is commanded by fallen angel Nikolai Voss, whose allegiance is not to the church but to the flame of vengeance that burns within.
But Chalice possesses a holy relic, a Weapon of the Mass, Nikolai desperately craves, and he will stop at nothing to retrieve it, destroying anything or anyone, including his own soul.
Renegade vampire Adam Blake is a recluse, attempting to bury his troubled past and the tortured memory of his former lover, Chalice Noire, in America's last frontier: the Alaskan wilderness.
Armageddon looms, the agents of light and darkness gather forces. The battle to be fought not on the sands of prophecy, but in the rugged beauty of Alaska, where Chalice and Adam once again cross paths. Can they reconcile their past to save humanity's future?

Chalice Noir has a heart deadened by the horrors of her past. The offspring of a devil and an angel, she's fast, strong and able to command a holy blade that just might get her killed. Chalice works for an agency sanctioned by the Roman church. But her boss, fallen angel Nikolai Voss, is a man she's never trusted. When the church begins to turn their backs on Voss and his unorthodox way of doing his jobs, he goes rogue. His only chance of regaining the power he once lost is by taking the sword Chalice wields. The catch is, she has to give it willingly.
With a price on her head and no one she can trust, Chalice is forced to rely on her two former loves, Nate and Adam. Nate is everything Chalice could never dream of being. A golden boy with a sense of duty and honor she can't help but admire. Adam is a vampire with darkness inside he must fight at every turn. Truly remorseful for the evil he's done in life, he's the one person Chalice has pardoned from death. Can these men together protect Chalice and the blade she carries? Or will Voss have his revenge on the God that cast him out, and begin a reign of terror on earth?
I adored the witty banter K.B infused in her dialogue. The pop culture references had me laughing out loud, and gave an authenticity to Chalice I really related to. I like my heroines laced with a bit of sarcasm. The action in this thrill ride is constant, the characters are gritty and the sex is plentiful.
Don't get me wrong, I love a romance fraught with adventure, but I felt like the love story got lost here. The scenes moved so fast at times I struggled to keep up, and I never really knew who Chalice was or got the chance to experience the love she held for Adam and Nate, or why. I would've liked to see this story lengthened and the pace slowed.
