GLBT, Paranormal Romance, Vamps & Shifters Romance
Vampires walk among us. For centuries, they have adapted, learning to pass undetected in our world. They no longer fear the day, only the sting of direct sunlight. They are students, bankers, lawyers, and even actors. But when the sun goes down, they are all united by their eternal thirst. We do not see them from our safe and comfortable side of the night. But sometimes, one of us is drawn away from the light and we cross into their world. Into the other side of night.
Sebastian Rossi's second year at the University of Tennessee began much differently than his first. He rushes to and from his classes, covered head to toe in thick clothing. Parties are a thing of the past, and dating hasn't been high on his list of priorities. No, high on his needs is blood. Lots of it. Adjusting to the changes no one even told him would happen following one great night of partying and sex has been hell for Bastian, but he's managing.
Riley Lynch's dream is to be a veterinarian. He works hard to pay his tuition, reads in every spare moment, and tries to forget the nightmare of his sophomore year. Summer has washed away all the bad, leaving him refreshed and eager for his junior year at UT. Life is finally looking up for him, and he has no intention of sliding back down into the depression that had consumed him during his last relationship.
A chance meeting brings their two worlds into alignment and passion sparks between them. When Riley learns of the changes Bastian is going through, he has a choice to make: walk away or embrace the night.

Vampires walk among us. Not like some strange hissing creatures you can easily spot in the crowd, but rather like normal people with allergic reactions to the sun and a bit sharper teeth. One of them is Sebastian, turned on a whim by another and left to his own devices; he does his best to survive and stay as normal as he can.
His life changes for the better once he meets Riley, another student with a bit of a past but a huge heart. This story is truly about the two of them, and while there is mention of the whole vampire world, it is never more than a glimpse.
My first impression of this book was promising and I read on, constantly expecting for something to happen. The more I read, the more my enthusiasm faded, as nothing really did happen. The story was about two men and their relationship, developing in a bit of an unconventional way, from the no questions approach to the easy acceptance of disclosed secrets.
But during those pages, I was still debating between four stars and three. The quality writing and an interesting detailed concept of vampires is something worth noticing and appreciating, but the lack of any sort of spark and the general getting-to-know-the-characters happening ‘off screen' made me lean toward three.
What cemented my decision was the ending. From a guy who had high morals and even higher expectations from his relationship, Riley turned into a cheating boyfriend who didn't really pick and choose his partners but just did them in a row while still being in a relationship. His actions could be justified by the situation in his life at the time, but somehow it wasn't satisfactory for me. In fact, the lack of a reaction on Sebastian's side only made me more disappointed.
Even though the first part of it moved slowly, I had genuine appreciation for the romantic side of the couple's relationship. That is probably the reason why the ending ruined it for me. Still, I think it is a very well written story and the sequel might be interesting enough to check it out.
