After ten years of exile, Harriet Brown is back in town. Things have definitely changed, but so has she. Now the confident owner of a catering business, she's no longer the shy, overweight girl everyone – including her hot teenage crush - used to ignore. In fact, she's determined to make peace with Adam Blackstone for her part in exposing his father's secret affairs and corrupt behavior as Mayor.
But Adam has changed as well. No longer a pampered, rich pin-up boy, he just wants to re-establish his family's good name. He reluctantly agrees to a truce with Harriet, and is surprised by how changed she is. He doesn't want to be drawn to her, but he can't seem to resist her allure.

As Harriet struggles to come to terms with her past, her adolescent infatuation with Adam morphs into something more serious… Will she ever be accepted again? Or will ancient history ruin the chance of a future full of possibilities?

What would you do if the only man who could make your heart beat faster hates you because you're the reason he lost everything?

Harriet came home after ten years of being away. If it's up to her, she wouldn't go home to a town that vilified her after she exposed how imperfect their beloved mayor was, but her father had an accident and she needed to be with him.

Harriet is no longer the shy, awkward, overweight and often ignored teenager she used to be. Now, she's a beautiful, sexy and a confident catering business owner in Sydney. But no matter how much she changed and improved herself, the feelings she has for Adam Blackstone remains the same. Meeting him again only intensified and deepened her feelings for him, even though she knows how much he hates her for ruining his father's reputation.

Adam was surprised to see Harriet back in town. He came back to his beloved town to restore his family's legacy.Adam is not the town's hot, rich boy anymore. He is now a man who was toughened and hardened but humbled by what happened to his father.

Now, Harriet is back in town! The woman who was the catalyst of ruining his father's good name. He knows he shouldn't hate her because it wasn't really her fault but he couldn't help harboring bitterness towards her. When Harriet came back, he is in the midst of organizing
a charity ball that could restore his family's good name. It's his way of paying back for what his father had done but the only problem was, the caterer, Harriet's father, got into an accident and he can't cater for the ball. So, Harriet volunteered to help him to the job, he reluctantly agreed.

Working together, Harriet and Adam became closer. And no matter how much they try to stop it, conflicting feelings deepen. But what if the past catches up with them? Will their fragile growing relationship break?

This is the first book I've read from Miss Coleen Kwan and I must say that I've enjoyed reading it. The characters are fun to read. Adam and Harriet's chemistry was nicely presented. I could definitely feel the tension between them. It was good. I also liked how Miss Kwan showed the different sides of the other characters. I loved reading about Harriet's parents, especially her mom. Her parents' relationship in the book was really cute. The way Miss Kwan also showed the relationship of Harriet with her family earned her major brownie
points from me. The fact that she didn't just let everything revolve around Adam and Harriet's relationship is good for me. A lot of authors tend to forget the other characters, making the main characters dry and fake.

The pacing of the book was also good. It wasn't confusing and I liked that. The plot was nicely executed. The author didn't put too much drama to the point of making it unreal.

This book is easy and light to read. Miss Coleen Kwan deserves two thumbs up for making a very nice contemporary romance a reader can relate to.

I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Ms. Coleen Kwan!
