I love shifter romances, especially when it deals with the whole mating phenomenon. The intense and oftentime primal sexual chemistry that occurs between mates is off the charts hot in my opinion. Well, Crystal Jordan has brought that to the page in spades! PROWL THE NIGHT features sexy shifters, hot chemistry and even hotter eroticism all the while giving us a healthy dose of paranormal romance.

PROWL THE NIGHT is actually two stories in one. In "Crave Me", we meet Tomas and Ciri. They are an already mated pair who have gone through a lot of changes. They are newly mated, had to move to a new pack, and they find themselves drifting apart. When attempts to rekindle their relationship fail, they will have to decide if they are actually meant to be together or just be mates in name only.

I thought that the struggle between Ciri and Tomas was an interesting one. They come from two different backgrounds: Tomas from a political family and Ciri from a non-political one. I think that they were too rooted in their own experiences to really try to see the other's point of view.

Despite all that however, they had unbelievable heat in the bedroom. WOW, I mean from the first page of the book, we are in the middle of a bedroom scene with them. But Ciri and Tomas are finding that sex isn't enough to make a relationship work. It's obvious that they both really care for each other, but I think they are afraid that compromise will mean losing a part of themselves.

I really liked this story because we don't usually get to see pairs that are already mated. We usually get to see the courtship. But here, we get to see the struggles new relationships can have. I'm glad that it worked out in the end, and I LOVED seeing them make up.

In the next story, "Want Me", Teresa wants nothing to do with a mate. She's actually hoping that she doesn't have one after seeing what devastation her brother has gone through after losing his mate. So, when she meets Rafe, she's surprised to recognize him as her mate instantly. What's even more surprising is the fact that she can't ignore the desire to have him. She will either have to get over her fears or lose her mate forever.

This was actually my favorite story of the two. Rafe and Teresa were so well-matched that I knew there was no way that they would be able to stay away from each other. Rafe was so much more accepting of Teresa's fears even though her repeated rejections of him hurt. I thought that made him so much more sexy.

The pair is insanely hot, and it's even hotter because Teresa is resisting so hard. With Rafe, though, she can't do it, and they truly burn up the sheets...and the shower...the grass, and wherever else they can get their hands on each other!

Overall though, I absolutely loved the shifter world that Crystal Jordan has created. With the pack politics and back stories on supporting characters, I was thoroughly impressed by the complexities of the world-building that author has crafted.

PROWL THE NIGHT is actually a sequel of another book called On the Prowl which features another two stories. While you don't have to read this first book to enjoy PROWL THE NIGHT (I didn't), I do think that you will be interested to find out what happens in the previous stories.

This is my first Crystal Jordan read, but it won't be my last. With the great plots, hot shifters, and even hotter sex in PROWL THE NIGHT, she's definitely gained another fan!
