Kate Andretti is married to the Mob--but doesn't know it. When her husband uproots them to Italy, Kate leaves everything she knows behind. Alone in a foreign land, she finds herself locked in a battle for her life against a husband and a family who will "silence" her if she will not do as they wish. When her husband tries to kill her, she accepts the protection offered by a wealthy businessman with Mafia ties. He's not a mobster, he claims. Or is he?
Enrico Lucchesi never wanted to be a Mafia don, and now he's caught in the middle of a blood feud with the Andretti family. His decision to help Kate brings the feud between the families to a boil. Attacks from without and within push them both to the breaking point, and soon Enrico is forced to choose between protecting the only world he knows and saving the woman he loves.

Revenge, murder, love, violence, family, corruption. All in the name of the Mafia. When in the Mafia, it is best not to wear your heart on your shoulder because that can be the death of you. How safe can your family truly be if you were the head of the Mafia? How many people want to see you dead so they could hold the power? This story tells the life of an Italian Mafioso and how much he wanted to change the ways of how money was made in the mob, and he wanted to see if the old code could be restored but love got in the way.
Kate Andretti is one tough, outspoken woman that will say the truth no matter the circumstances. When she finds herself being manhandled by her husband and the look in his eyes, she knew she was going to die but Enrico entered her office just in time. At that moment, she knew that her husband was part of the mob and needed somewhere safe to stay until she got enough money and made a decision of where to move. She accepted the offer of Enrico and joined him at his home. There was something about him that moved her, the way he spoke to her that made her feel they had a connection.
So when she sleeps with him, her excuse is that if her husband believed that she was sleeping with Enrico already, what harm could it do now that it's true? As time passes with her in his home, she knows that he was hiding something, but he keeps avoiding the question, and she did not want to believe that he is in the mob, too.
Enrico Lucchesi is the don of the Lucchesi family and has been suffering from the loss of his wife. Sure, it was a business agreement that was made between his father and the rival don, Carlo Andretti. So when Carlo's daughter dies from cancer and he finds out that Enrico had another woman in his bed shortly after his daughter's death, revenge is all he is thinking.
Enrico knows that he will have a war on his hands soon but never thought that it would escalate to the extremes of protecting a woman that he has not been able to stop thinking about. Then when he walks into her office and finds her husband about to kill her, all he sees is red. Then he is keeping a secret from her and she has told him repeatedly that she hates when people lie to her. Only he knows that if he does not chose the right time to tell her his part in the mob, she will leave him. He cannot afford to have his heart torn from him again.
At this time, his cousin Dom starts filling his head with ideas that maybe Kate is a spy. When Kate's husband enters Enrico's home, there is suspicion that someone close to Enrico is betraying him. When he finally realizes who has betrayed him, can he go through with the consequences of the betrayal?
What can I say but this story truly exceeded my expectations. REVENGE is action packed and when the pace picks up, it does not slow down. I am not one to read about Mafia families and their dealings, but the synopsis really drew me in. Ms. Delamar truly must have researched this particular story line with so much passion. The great depths to explain the story completely was exquisite. You get the sense of how the Mafia works, how some want to honor the old code of no drugs and prostitution. Then you have those that don't care because all they want is money and that turns into greed. You see a different world that is made up of entirely men, the way some city officials are willing to bribe the mob in order to get some money and make evidence disappear. The characters were well developed and they each have a part in this first book in the Blood and Honor Series.
I did a little research after reading this book and I am glad there will be four books in this series. Pick up this book today it will grab your attention from the beginning. I cannot wait to read the next book.
