Meet Izzy Santillo. She's a charming-but-lonely thirty-four year old woman who loves poker and harbors a secret crush on the reigning king of Hold 'em.

Meet Nick Nolan, the reigning king of Hold 'em. On the tables, he's fast and loose and almost always wins. But when it comes to women, playboy Nick holds his cards too close and always loses.

When Izzy and Nick meet in embarrassing fashion at a Las Vegas poker tournament, Izzy's secret dreams turn into a public nightmare. But despite her humiliation, she may have finally sparked Nick's interest in something other than cards.

Before long, Nick takes a gamble on Izzy and raises the stakes when he offers to help her sharpen her game. But Izzy's convinced that Nick is bluffing and will fold his hand. Then a string of outrageous proposition bets and steamy trips on the poker tour, from Vegas to Miami, make these two fierce competitors realize that it may be time to put all their chips on the table. Will Izzy and Nick pair up? Or will they lose it all if they go all-in for each other? Sit down and ante up as Nick and Izzy get ready to Shuffle Up and Deal.

My favorite romantic comedy of the year.

My sides are still hurting, I laughed so much. You don't have to be a fan of poker to fall in love with Izzy and Nick. Their chemistry in and out of the bedroom speaks for itself, but it is their casual chemistry and the poker community at large that had me cheering at the end.

Izzy dreams of not only becoming a poker champion, but she dreams of THE poker champion, Nick Nolan. To the point of screaming Nick's name out while in bed with her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Andy. When sent to Vegas to write an article for her travel magazine, Izzy literally falls for Nick. Yep, falls. Right in front of him, split skirt and all. Little does she know that her casual snarky attitude appeals to playboy Nick who is tired of the faux felines he's been seeing. Izzy grabs his attention once again when she shows her stuff at the poker tournament. Nick offers to mentor her, but Izzy has a hard time taking him seriously.

Izzy's inability to believe in herself and the possibility that Nick wants more than a fling resulted in some major sexual tension. Talk about ignition when the two finally hooked up. And once they got going, they gave Vegas something to crow about. Ms DiPlacido wrote some wonderfully inventive and highly erotic scenes for the two. They gave new meaning to ‘going all in'.

As the two traveled from L.A. to Miami playing tournaments, Izzy became the strong female protagonist worthy of our celebration and jaded Nick grew to become the hero worthy of our hearts.

The secondary characters were as much a part of the success as Izzy and Nick. The prop bets and pranks were probably my favorites. But the banter and outrageous behavior of Izzy's wacky family and Nick's over the top Vegas comrades kept my eyes bugging out and my side's hurting.

DiPlacido is clearly familiar with tournament play and the poker community. Her insight shows and allows those unfamiliar with the game to learn a little while they are swept away in the action.

Fast-paced, sexy, outrageously funny, and all-out entertaining, Shuffle Up and Deal is a winner. Enjoy!
