ALLISON DOYLE'S NEW CASE WILL MAKE HER CAREER . . . IF SHE LIVES TO SOLVE IT.
Motive, opportunity, and no alibi—rookie detective Allison Doyle knows it's as close to a slam dunk as most investigations get. But even though her small-town Texas police department has identified a prime suspect in a young woman's vicious murder, she can't rest easy. And when legendary FBI profiler Mark Wolfe shows up with a startling new theory, all her doubts are amplified. If Wolfe is correct, the real killer is an elusive psychopath who has left a trail of bodies behind him. And he's just days away from his next kill. . . .
Allison was supposed to be Wolfe's way into the case, nothing more. But she's ambitious, stubborn, and far too tempting. With the help of her contacts at the Delphi Center crime lab, Wolfe is within striking distance of the monster he's pursued for ten years. Except the closer Allison and Wolfe get, the more reason there is to fear. Because with a predator this brutal, every thread of evidence can make a difference between hunting a madman—and becoming hunted yourself.

TWISTED is an action-packed, edge-of-your-seat excitement with a good dose of romance. Gripping and intense, TWISTED commanded my attention and wouldn't let go 'til I reached the last page and turned off my reader with a satisfied sigh.
A woman was murdered on October 30th in rookie detective Allison Doyle's town. Her boss believed it to be done by the suspicious ex-boyfriend, but FBI Special Agent Mark Wolfe believed it to be the work of a psychopath serial killer he'd been investigating from ten years ago. Further investigations revealed Mark to be right, and then it was a race to find the killer before he strikes again on November 19. Complicating the case was Allison's and Mark's mutual attraction, an attraction that could distract them and get someone killed.
Perfect blend of romance and suspense! The prologue was a nice touch as we see things from Jordan's (one of the victims) point of view, and we are immediately drawn into the drama and suspense and mystery. The romance and heat between Allison and Mark was intense and hot, ratcheting up the tension and increasing the stakes, complementing and further adding to the suspense storyline.
I like Allison's never-give-up attitude. As one of the few policewomen on the force, she had a lot to prove, but she didn't have that chip on her shoulder that would've made her irritating. She gets along with her male colleagues and works harder than them to prove her mettle. Not only that, but she genuinely cares about making the world a better place. Even injured, she gets up to go save someone else. A strong woman, she goes for what she wants, and knows that love means letting go.
Mark Wolf is a superb hero--slightly mysterious, experienced, knowledgeable. I admit to falling a little bit in love with him myself! There's nothing like an older man who exudes confidence and assurance and safety.
The story moves along at a clipped pace, and it's full of twists and turns that was unexpected and surprising. Series fans will love that the characters from the previous books make cameo appearances in this book. Another bonus was learning all about the Delphi Center, and how its team of forensic scientists help them in their investigations.
TWISTED is an amazing book, one that I stayed up late to finish. I'm excited to read the next book, Scorched, coming in October 2012, and see the continuation of Kelsey and Gage's (from the novella Unstoppable) story.
