A short, sexy, historical read, ELIZA'S AWAKENING will awaken you from your stupor and electrify you with its sensuality.

Eliza had her eyes on Kell, a guard at the household where she worked as a servant girl. But she didn't know how to tell him so, as whenever he came near, she'd stammer and turn shy. Anyway, that was a problem for later, for on the eve of this Longest Night, her lord and lady had invited a lot of guests, and she expected to work her bones off before the night was over.

To stave off the long winter, a sacrifice was usually made to appease the demon. This year, a most unusual sacrifice was suggested instead of the traditional one, a sacrifice of blood...a virgin's blood...and the man who had the honor of choosing the woman was Lord Rakin, who had his eye on Eliza...

Though the story was predictable in how Eliza's predicament would be solved, I still enjoyed reading this short, wicked read, especially the scene of Eliza's awakening. Zaide Bishop is to be commended for her characters, who show remarkable depth, most especially particular secondary characters. No one is who he seemed to be.

I enjoyed this debut hot read very much, and would be on the lookout for more of Zaide Bishop's stories.
