One lunatic man has vowed to take what is most important to Dev. Reghan has what is needed to discover who is killing his kids but until she makes the connection, kids will continue dying.
Reghan Conner works at WACT as an investigative journalist. She interviews different people and exposes their lies, because of what her father and ex-fiancé did. But sometimes the lies are there to protect people. To her, as long as it's the truth, she doesn't see anything wrong with them and if she has hurt people in the process of uncovering the lies. That is exactly what she does to Dev. She exposed him in front of all New Orleans and made him out to be no hero.
Dev Gautier is a detective in New Orleans and also has a center where he helps teens get off the street. He had a horrible childhood where he witnessed something bad and that brought consequences, but a policeman changed his life. He was taken in and taken off the streets and now he vowed to do the same with other teenagers, give them food and someplace to sleep. Then his partner's wife was kidnapped, and he rescued his partner and his wife from a crazy lunatic. That is when his life changed. Not only did he get exposed but shortly after that, his kids started turning up dead.
When Reghan realized her interview was the cause, she realized she had to tell Dev, though he may have a hard time listening to her. The stakes escalate when she realized someone has been in her home and want to hurt her.
I loved how we were able to get to know both Reghan and Dev. They are both strong people that love what they do but sometimes you have to realize that maybe it is wrong. People have the right to privacy, something that Reghan learned the hard way.
The storyline flowed beautifully. I loved how we were able to learn little by little about Dev and Reghan. The chemistry between them was sizzling. The mystery of the killer was spectacularly done. It had me trying to guess who the killer was ‘til the end.
I will be looking for more books by Mallory Kane. Pick up this book today and enjoy a thrilling ride.
