EVERNIGHT is a fascinating, compelling read, and a deeper look at the Darkest London world.

Will lives for revenge. In a previous book, at the behest of a fallen angel, Holly Evernight changed him into a shadow crawler, exchanging his demonic heart for a platinum one, bringing him untold pain as the platinum spread throughout his body. At the same time, someone was sending demons to kill Holly, but she didn't know who.

When Will went to do away with Holly one night, he realized Holly could take away his pain by using her ability with metals. And while Holly could defend herself from the assassins with her inventions, she recognized that having one more person--Will--protect her could only help her to stay alive longer, especially since Will agreed to help find out who wanted her dead. And though Holly felt guilty for "creating" Will, even though she hadn't any choice in the matter at that time, she was also inexplicably drawn to him...

Holly is an enigma. Compared to Will, she was slower to admit her feelings for him, perhaps because of the guilt factor and maybe due to the nightmarish turmoil she experienced during their time together at the hands of the fallen angel. There were shades of Frankenstein here in that she "created" Will, and though she tried to resist succumbing to the attraction, she could only hold out for so long! And when that moment came, it was H.O.T., combustible, explosive. Aside from that, she's a strong, kick-ass heroine who more than hold her own in the fight for love. We also get to see deeper into her family history, which explains how they got their power. I'd love to see this explored more, perhaps in the next book, as Eliza May is Holly's cousin.

Will, oh Will, he just makes my heart melt! He changed his mind quickly about getting his revenge on Holly, and he was more in touch with his emotions than Holly. You can really see him falling for her, and when he thought "he'd adore her if she'd give him half the chance", I was a goner! A sweet, hot Alpha hero!

Another awesome storytelling by Kristen Callihan. I'm positively awed by how she builds upon her world, and more than once, I was pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns this story takes.

I do think the story was wrapped up a little too neatly, especially in regards to the question of Holly's mortality and Will's immortality. Perhaps because I was so wrapped up in their story and adventure that I didn't even notice that one little fact. However, I supposed having that answered is part of their HEA.

That said, it didn't lessen my enjoyment of EVERNIGHT one bit! I'm already pumped up to read the next installment, the story of Adam and Eliza May. Can't wait!
