On a transatlantic cruise to New York, sculptor Rhys Matherton struggles to piece his life back together after losing his mother, inheriting a fortune, and finding out his father isn't his father after all. He spills a tray of drinks on a handsome stranger, then he finds himself up against a wall getting the best hand-job he's ever had. And for the first time in his life, he feels whole.

Rhys enjoys the company of Silas Quint, but for the eerie way no one pays attention to them even while they kiss in a crowded bar. Silas explains he's a forest fae able to glamor the room around them-and more importantly, that he's on the cruise to hunt vampires. Rhys thinks Silas is full of it, until he discovers vampires are real, and he's part of their main course.

Silas Quint can't be distracted by a human lover, even one as lovely as Rhys. Stuck in the middle of the ocean, he has barely enough of energy to hunt the vampires he's been sent to destroy. Rhys is full of the one thing Silas needs needs most-the element of living plants. Only sucking energy from Rhys would make Silas as soulless as the creatures he hunts. How can he keep Rhys safe, without becoming like the very monsters he hunts?

I've read quite a few books recently and I have to say, I've given quite a few of them a five star review. My rating system is pretty simple. If I really enjoy a book, it kept my attention, was well written, well edited, had something different about it in terms of story line or plot and above all, made me feel something - love, dislike, fear, sadness, joy- then for me, it's 5 stars.

And Anna Zabo's book CLOSE QUARTER is no exception. I had no idea what to expect when I first started reading this but only a few pages in and I was already head over heels for Rhys and wanted a Silas Quint of my own.

Rhys Matherton has just inherited millions on the death of his mother. He decides to go on a cruise by himself to try and figure out what it is he wants from life. When he accidentally spills drinks all over a strange but extremely sexy man, Rhys decides he's just found what he wants. Silas Quint is a stranger but Rhys is strangely drawn to him. So drawn in fact that the two men end up in the corridor in an intense sexual act that leaves both of them wanting more of each other.

When Rhys finds out exactly who he is and what Silas is, the world rocks on its axis and he's catapulted into a world of magic, the supernatural and vicious vampires who are out to kill or worse, capture both of them. And in between, the attraction between the two men grows with such intensity that it threatens to overwhelm them.

Anna Zabo weaves an incredibly rich tale of the pure primal emotions of two men whose world is on the brink of changing forever. The need they have for each other is intense and literally draining and the world in which Rhys finds himself is fraught with superstition, sorcery and the unknown.

Ms Zabo writes incredibly detailed scenes with a creativity that leaves you breathless. Of course, the marvellously vivid sex scenes paint a picture of pure lust and emotional longing and are scattered through the book like lust bullets to your groin. Hot, sexy and definitely satisfying.

I have to say than when Ms Zabo writes anything new, I'll be the first one there to download it and read it. Her writing style is so appealing, her characters three dimensional and realistic, and the imagination she lends to her scenes powerful and evocative. A definite 5 star recommended read from me.
