BOOK INTERVIEW on December 2012
Interview by Laura
Hi Gabriella, we're glad to have you here at The Romance Reviews. Congratulations on your release, TIRZAH'S ALLURE!
Q: What inspired you to write the story TIRZAH'S ALLURE?
I write whatever the muse puts into my mind.
Q: What kind of research did you have to do in the course of writing this book? Please share an interesting fact you uncovered.
It's pure scifi fantasy, so not a whole lot of research needed. I did do research on the mating of cats and their behavior before, during and after, and also some research about the Amazon forests and unexplored territories, tribes that live deep in the jungles etc.
Q: Tirzah is such a unique name for a heroine! What does it mean? Please do tell us more about Tirzah. What kind of woman is she?
Tirzah is a Biblical name meaning 'favorable'. It occurs in the Old Testament as the name of a daughter of Zelophehad and also as a place name. Tirzah is young and headstrong, adventurous and inquisitive. She's a strong woman.
Q: What about Cain? Please do tell us more about him.
Cain is also a Biblical name. Wasn't intentional. He was an orphan, a shifter, who thought he was the only shifter in the world, until he meets and falls in love with Tirzah. Can't tell you too much more without giving away story.
Q: Both the hero and heroine are cat shifters! I thought that's so unique in the over-populated wolf shifters books. Why did you choose for them to be cats? Did they possess any unique abilities of a cat that is crucial in the story?
They have abilities somewhat different from the usual cat shifters, due to their alien origin.
Q: Was it hard to get into the mind-set of a cat? What did you have to do to make sure your characters act and think very cat-like?
I didn't have to do a whole lot. I've had cats for most of my life and know their behavior. However, when in cat form, Tirzah and her two mates still think like humans.
Q: Though Tirzah is a cat shifter like Cain, she came from an alien civilization. What's the difference between her world and Cain's world, which is Earth? How did you make up Tirzah's world? Did you draw from any mythology or folk tale?
Tirzah's world came completely from my imagination. The people are much the same, except they're all very blond/blonde and blue eyed. Their traditions are different than Earth's. There isn't a lot told of Tirzah's world as it was destroyed.
Q: What's the most romantic thing that Cain did for Tirzah?
I would say it's the other way around. Tirzah asks the elders to help Cain find his parents.
Q: Please share with us your favourite scene.
Not sure I have a favorite but I found this one interesting to write. I've stopped it before the actual mating though...
The music continued, people danced, sang, shouted and drank. What the drink was, he didn't know. It kind of resembled wine, but had a very fruity taste to it.
Suddenly, his ears perked. He heard the mating call of his beloved. He was sure that's what it was because his cat craved to emerge. He hurried to the wall, stood behind it for a few moments and listened again. Without further ado, his bones popped, his skin stretched and he shifted. He saw the other men had shifted into big white cats. One of them jumped the wall. He followed. His mate called him, urged him on. For the first time in his life, he felt the mating urge of his cat, the need to copulate with a female. Not just any female—he wanted, needed Tirzah.
Cain was amazed he could still think like a human, want like a human, yet the animal instinct urged him on. He leaped, he ran, he followed her scent and found her writhing on the ground. To his animal eyes, she was totally provocative, alluring. He nipped at her playfully only to receive a swipe from her claws. The foreplay continued for a while, until she crouched on the ground, her tail high and quivering. She howled and raised her rump, uttering the mating call that urged him on. Her front paws scratched the ground and her head turned sideways, rubbing the earth beneath it.
She crawled forward, pushed her ass up as he approached and raised her rump again.
Q: Which character was the hardest to write? Why? What kind of difficulty did you encounter?
I didn't find any of them hard to write and didn't come across any difficulties.
Q: Please do tell us about your other books. What kind of genre do you primarily write? Why do you love writing in those genres?
I write in nearly all genres except m/m. Have tried to, but just can't get my muse going on that genre.
Q: What's up next for you?
A new release coming on December 15th, SECRETS UNVEILED. It is a contemporary erotic mystery romance. Here's a short blurb:
When fate leads you to your soul mate…it might be a good idea to answer.
The message on her machine was not meant for her, but Leah Britton can't resist the urgent plea. The pain in the man's voice is unmistakable and she begins a cascade of events that will take her out of her comfort zone and into a whirlwind of sensuality with a hint of deadly danger.
Logan is furious when he finds out that the heartfelt plea he voiced to his ex was heard by a stranger, the very woman who meets him in his ex-wife's place. Her sympathy at his recent breakup is written on her lovely face and he sees a pain that echoes his own.
Together they let their personal pain become something different, stronger, and wilder than either of them could have guessed.
Awesome! Thanks a lot for taking the time for this interview, Gabriella! We enjoyed hearing more about what went into the writing of TIRZAH'S ALLURE.
