Build a fire in the fireplace, make yourself a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine and sit down with SOMEONE LIKE YOU. Only eighty-two pages long, this novella is a delightful read!
SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a sweet story with characters who will capture your heart immediately. Jake Harris was deeply affected by his wife's death. He had loved and lost and vowed never to love another woman again. Gen Thompson thought she and her high school sweetheart would love each other until the end of their days. That love lasted until Gen informed her boyfriend she was pregnant and he ran in the opposite direction faster than a pregnancy test can show the plus sign. Now, her son is a teenager and Gen longs for someone who will love her and accept her son.
Enter Sadie, matchmaker extraordinaire, of Perfect Pairings. Sadie sells a Perfect Pairings gift card to Jake's best friend, who sends it to Jake in the hope of helping him recover from his wife's death. Jake is not interested, until he realizes the gift certificate could be the answer to his desire for a physical-only relationship. Sadie's magical matchmaking goes into overdrive at this point.
Without giving away the entire story, I will say SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a feel-good book and one I thoroughly enjoyed reading. However, the sex scenes leave nothing to your imagination. If you don't like explicit, graphic sex, you will want to pass on reading it.
Ms. Devereaux has written an excellent novella and I look forward to reading more of her work.
